boho – An Eclectic Celebration of Local Art & Creativity
More than a shop. A space for artists and lovers of the beautifully unexpected.
Some business ideas are born from a strategy; others are born from the heart. boho is one of the latter—an eclectic, welcoming space that grew from one woman’s lifelong dream and two people’s shared passion for community, creativity, and local art.
Owners Barry and Sonia Guidry, both originally from the Rayne area, were high school acquaintances who reconnected later in life. “We’ve been married 16 years now,” Barry shares. “This shop has always been something Sonia dreamed of opening. She’s always had that creative spark.”
For years, Sonia worked as an administrative assistant and Barry in the accounting and finance world. But when the opportunity came to launch something more personal, they jumped in together. boho first opened its doors in Sunset in 2016, where it quickly developed a loyal following and became a hidden gem. Over the course of eight years, it became clear just how beloved the shop was—so beloved, in fact, that the vast majority of their customers were driving in from the Lafayette area.
So when a spot opened in the heart of River Ranch, the move felt meant to be.
Now open in their new Lafayette location since October 2024, boho continues to thrive as a creative collective space where over 60 local artists and artisans are showcased. From original paintings and handcrafted jewelry to soulful home décor and unique gifts, boho is the kind of store that invites you to slow down and discover something new each time you visit.
“It’s important to us to give local artists a voice,” Sonia says. “We’ve met so many talented people over the years, and this is a space where their work can be seen and appreciated. It’s so much fun working with them to create beautiful, quality gifts and one-of-a-kind treasures for our customers. Our artists also do commissions for those looking for that personalized piece.”
Sonia, an artist herself, occasionally adds her own work into the mix when time allows—though much of her energy now goes into curating the vibrant, ever-changing collection at boho. With a passion for handmade and heart-led pieces, she and Barry have created more than a retail shop—they’ve built a community hub for those who value authenticity, creativity, and local connection. They were recently rewarded by winning the Best Gift Shop and Best Home Décor categories in the Community’s Choice Best of Acadiana Awards.
If you haven’t stepped inside yet, make time to visit boho soon. Whether you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind gift, a conversation-starting piece for your home, or simply want to support Lafayette-area creatives, boho is a beautiful reflection of what can happen when passion meets purpose.
