Employee Spotlight: Chance Monte              Position: Electrical Manager

Where did you grow up?   How long have you lived in the area?   Tell us about your family.
I was born and raised in Coteau, LA, and I’ve lived here for all of my 32 years. My wife and I just celebrated our 10-year anniversary. We have two little ones—ages 5 and 6 months—and a third on the way! My brother, Cade Monte, also works in the family. He’s our HVAC and Operations Manager.

What else should we know about you, your family, or your business?
Southern Air has given me opportunities I never imagined—from starting as an A/C service tech to becoming the Electrical Manager. They saw potential in me and helped me grow professionally and personally. I’ve gone from being a full-time fireman with a side hustle to being able to build a home for my family—and yes, also support my fishing addiction!

How did you decide on this industry (events that led up to where you are now, where you went to school, etc.)?
I got started in high school, taking HVAC classes and really enjoying the hands-on work. After attending technical college, I worked for an electrical company in Broussard, LA. Eventually, I transitioned into A/C work while also serving as a full-time fireman. On the side, I started a small electrical business. Once I received my state contractor’s license, I was offered a position with Tim’s Southern Air, and that led me to where I am today. The electrical division at Southern Air Acadiana started just two years ago, and I’ve been a part of building it up ever since.

What led you to join the Southern Air Family?
While I didn’t start Southern Air myself, I’ve always had the entrepreneurial mindset—starting my own small electrical business on the side while firefighting full-time. Joining Southern Air gave me the opportunity to take that experience and help grow something even bigger, with more support and reach.
