Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Rebecca Roy, and I’m a wife and mom of three, born and raised here in Lafayette, Louisiana. I love spending time with my family, being outdoors, coaching youth sports, and educating others about health and wellness. I’m passionate about helping people feel better in their bodies so they can fully enjoy their lives.
What inspired you to start your business?
My career in nursing—spanning perioperative care, gastroenterology, orthopedic clinics, management, telehealth, and outpatient surgery—showed me firsthand how often people are rushed through appointments and left without answers. Just as I experienced in my own chronic health journey, I watched patients struggle with ongoing symptoms despite doing “all the right things.” Combined with my education as a master’s-prepared nurse and an Institute for Restorative Health practitioner, this inspired me to create a practice focused on root-cause healing, personalized care, and truly listening to clients.
What makes La Vie En Roy unique?
What sets La Vie En Roy apart is our one-on-one concierge model—clients are never rushed, dismissed, or treated like a number. I take pride in providing personalized, evidence-based care that looks at the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. The most fulfilling part of my work is seeing clients regain confidence, energy, and control over their health after years of frustration.
What advice would you give residents when it comes to their health?
Don’t ignore ongoing symptoms or accept them as “normal.” Digestive issues, fatigue, brain fog, and inflammation are signals from the body. Seek providers who look beyond surface-level labs and are willing to investigate root causes.
Are there misconceptions about gut health or functional medicine you’d like to address?
One common misconception is that functional medicine isn’t evidence-based or that its practitioners lack proper qualifications. In reality, functional medicine is grounded in scientific research and clinical evidence, and many practitioners come from strong healthcare backgrounds, including nursing, medicine, and advanced health sciences. Functional medicine focuses on identifying root causes, using advanced lab testing, and applying personalized, research-supported interventions. It complements conventional medicine by addressing why symptoms are occurring rather than only managing them, offering a more comprehensive and informed approach to long-term health.
Another misconception is the belief that gut health isn’t backed by real science or connected to overall health. In truth, extensive research shows how closely the gut influences immunity, hormones, inflammation, mental clarity, and energy levels. There is also a common belief that ongoing symptoms like bloating, fatigue, or aches are simply part of getting older. They aren’t. These symptoms are often signals that the body needs support—not something to be dismissed or accepted as normal.
When choosing a health provider, residents should look for someone who truly listens and takes the time to understand their full health story. A good provider won’t rush appointments or offer one-size-fits-all solutions, but instead will focus on personalized, evidence-based care. It’s also important to work with someone who explains the “why” behind their recommendations and partners with you in your health journey so you feel informed, supported, and confident in the care you’re receiving.
How would someone know if they could benefit from your services?
If you or someone in your household is dealing with bloating, food sensitivities, fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, or ongoing inflammation—and you’ve already tried medications, diets, or specialist visits without clear answers—you’re not alone. Many people in our community quietly live with these symptoms, assuming they’re just part of a busy lifestyle or something that comes with age.
A functional, personalized approach to gut and metabolic health takes a step back to ask why the body might be struggling in the first place. By slowing down, listening closely, and examining how digestion, stress, nutrition, and inflammation are connected, this approach helps bring clarity to symptoms that often get overlooked—allowing people to better understand their bodies and make informed, sustainable changes that support long-term well-being.
