Snuggles, Squirrels, and Brotherhood
Two brothers, one big heart, and a house full of wagging tails and squirrel patrols
Hi, I'm Peanut. I'm the baby of the family, the little one, and I have a lot of thoughts about my place in this house.
I came all the way from Indiana to be Mom’s baby and travel buddy, which means I go places, snuggle lots, and make sure she is never, ever alone. That is a very important job for someone my size. I am only 13 pounds, but I have a very big personality and apparently a very big snore. I don’t hear it, so I think everyone else is just being dramatic.
My big brother Bentley has been here the longest. He’s eight, which is like really old. He’s the sweetest, most loving dog, basically a human in dog form. He loves my dad so much and stays close to him whenever he can. He’s a big hugger, a fierce protector, and the best big brother I could ask for.
If you come to our front door, Bentley is in charge. First, you’ll get a full barking welcome. Very official. Very loud. Then, once he decides everything is safe, he runs to grab his stuffed Pooh Bear and brings it to you like a gift. It’s his favorite thing and his way of saying hello.
He also watches TV. Not casually, but seriously. If there’s an animal on a commercial, he notices. And he will “handle” it, aka bark like crazy.
Bentley takes his big brother job very seriously. He protects me, plays with me, and makes sure I’m always included. We spend a lot of time together, especially outside chasing squirrels in our backyard. There are so many squirrels in our oak trees, and we simply must chase them every single day. It’s exhausting, but very important work.
Bentley loves treats. Unfortunately, treats don’t always agree with him. That doesn’t stop him from hoping, though. He’s very optimistic. I, on the other hand, do not have this problem.
I am what you would call very spoiled, mostly by my mom, Summer. I’m her little shadow, her travel buddy, and her cuddle partner. I love to be right next to her at all times, especially at night when I get to sleep in the bed. I also really love treats, and my mom has a hard time saying no to me. I just tilt my head a little and give her my sweet eyes, and somehow I end up with another one.
The best part of our life is when Mom and Dad come home. Even if they were only gone for a tiny bit, we greet them like it’s the happiest moment ever. Because it is.
Bentley and I love our family so much. Together, we bring all the love, laughter, and joy into our home. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
