H2O Nuts Megan and Mac
Megan McKelvey brought her dog Mac back to her roots in the South.

PULL QUOTE:
I love that we have beaches, bays, bayous and creeks, along with truly some of the best people I’ve ever known.
Five years ago, Megan McKelvey made the decision to move back to the water from Birmingham, AL. “Mac and I missed the water and home so much and it was time to come back,” Megan explained. They returned to Niceville where Megan was born and raised. Last year, she and Mac found a home in Regatta Bay and have been taking advantage of the bay, the bayou, the beach, and the pool. They both love anything in or on the water, especially boating.
“Regatta Bay has been a neighborhood I have frequently visited over the years with various friends and family here. This neighborhood is peaceful, full of wonderful people and I love being able to take backroads and the convenience of things close by,” Megan recounted. When the two are not boating or swimming, Megan is also involved with Freedom Life Compass and growing her marketing business, McKelvey & Co.
At the early age of 18, Megan graduated from Northwest FL State College with an Associate of Arts. She then moved to Orlando and attended Rollins where she earned her BA in Communications. “Orlando wasn’t really a fit for me as it was a bit too fast-paced, and I missed the true South,” Megan shared. She made the move to Birmingham where she had friends and a job waiting. After eight years in marketing and PR in there, Megan leaped into starting her own business. “I have a big heart and passion for promoting small to medium size businesses,” she explained. She realized the corporate life was not for her. “I have owned my own marketing firm for nine years now, and I love it.” The best part of owning her own business is building long-term relationships with her clients and helping them to realize their dreams.
When she isn’t working, Megan is with her dog Mac in the ocean, in the pool, or in the bathtub. Yes, bathtub. Megan recalled one time when she went to check the mail and left the front door cracked open. “When I came back inside, I couldn't find Mac. I called him and looked everywhere. He doesn't run away so this was extremely perplexing. I finally found him. Before going to check the mail, I had started my bubble bath and Mac had gone on and helped himself right into my tub and was enjoying a nice soak. He was so cute I couldn't even be upset!”
While she loves being near the water, Megan also likes to get away. “I have a trip planned to the mountains for a change of scenery and some relaxation with some of my best friends that I’m really looking forward to.”
It’s likely that you will see Megan and Mac on the beach, near the beach, on a boat, or getting ready to boat! But catch Megan’s other favorites in the area, too!
