Valedictorian Brackin Cobb is headed to Auburn University!

Tell us about plans for the coming year.
I plan on attending Auburn University in the fall and enrolling in the Exploratory Program there.
Tell us how you chose Auburn. Where else did you apply?
I chose Auburn because ive grown up a Tiger and Auburn has always been my dream school. Both of my parents graduated from Auburn so I grew up around the campus and going to games my whole life. In addition to Auburn, I applied to and was accepted by the University of Florida, Florida State and SMU.
Do you have a major in mind? If so, what and what do you hope to do with that major?
Currently I am enrolled in the Exploratory Program which pretty much means I’m still looking at a few career paths.
Tell us about your golfing. Were you on the team? Do you plan to play in college?
I played on the Destin High School Golf team the past two years and I’ve fallen in love with the sport. My Grandpa was a golfer and I finally started playing the sport at 16. Auburn happens to have just won the golf national championship and is currently #1 in the country and I'm not sure if my golf game is up to that caliber yet. But, I intend to continue playing and join a club team up there and if the stars align, becoming an Auburn Golfer.
What was it like to be valedictorian at Destin High School?
It was amazing. I was excited and honored to carry that title but nervous, too, for my speech at graduation. In the end, I am very proud to have been recognized in such a way and the bragging rights are awesome.
What will you miss most about high school?
Honestly, the sports teams I played on and the people I’ve met and have been going to school with for the past eight years.
Advice to upcoming seniors?
Cherish this year! I feel like yesterday I was an upcoming senior dreaming of Auburn and now all of a sudden it’s happening. I would also have to say to be as involved as you can in your school.
