STROLL: Like the Energizer Bunny, you two “keep going and going!” You have been contributors to Stroll Regatta Bay since September 2019, when your first “Senior Sojourns”appeared. Many thanks for that.
 
But now, congratulations are in order. You have earned the designation Seniors Real Estate Specialists® (SRES®). Tell us what that means.
 
Phil: Working with Stroll has been fun and productive. Our thanks to Marcie and Corey for making four and a half years fly by.
 
In our Real Estate career with Keller Williams, we have been working primarily with 55+, matures, elders, let’s call them Seniors. When we learned that the National Association of Realtors® offered an Official Designation Course called the Seniors Real Estate Specialist®, we realized this was exactly what we needed. So we registered, paid the fees, prepared ahead of time with the material, took the classes with an excellent instructor and passed with flying colors. What a great experience. We are now officially qualified to help Seniors take the next steps.
 
STROLL:  Why did you feel that you had to take that extra step?
 
Pat: The needs of Seniors are not the same as a first-time homebuyer or seller. They might be looking to retire, right-size, live in-place or join an active adult community. These decisions are often fraught with emotions and most Realtors® aren’t willing to take on such stress. We love our generation and wanted to better guide Seniors through every part of the process and ease their anxiety.
 
STROLL: Why should a Senior consider working with an SRES®?
 
Phil: The training received by SRES® designees is unparalleled in seniors real estate, including:
  • Helping Seniors manage the financial and emotional challenges of selling a long-held family home
  • Understanding their unique needs and creating a customized plan to ensure their home meets those needs now and in the future
  • Utilizing specialized knowledge in reverse mortgages, 401(k) accounts, and IRAs for their real estate transaction
  • Connecting Seniors with a vast network of movers, attorneys, home inspectors, and other experts to help them through the process
