Meet the Counce Family!

This month we are excited to feature The Counce Family who moved into Reflection Ridge in April of 2022. They are an active part of the community and we are so happy to be able to tell part of their story.

Josh and Aimee actually grew up together as kids when they lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The two met when their families attended the same church where Josh’s Dad was a worship leader. Aimee’s Dad was stationed there in the Air Force. Aimee’s family moved back to Wichita in 2001, but Josh’s family remained in Albuquerque until 2008. Josh moved back and forth between Oklahoma City and Albuquerque in 2008 and eventually settled in Oklahoma City in 2010.

The following year, Josh got a surprise Facebook message from Aimee. She had been complaining to her mom about not being able to find a good Christian man, so her mom dared her to write to Josh. She did, and a few months later, they were engaged. They were married almost 11 months to the day after they began dating. Aimee and Josh lived in Oklahoma City when they got married and moved to Wichita in 2015 to be closer to Aimee’s family. Aimee’s family moved around a lot because of the military, but she’s always felt that her true home has been in Kansas.

The couple has been married for 10 years and has three children: Scarlett (8), Everly (6), and Deacon (4). All three of their kids go to Faith Academy, where the girls love to lead children's worship at their church. They describe Scarlett as smart, kind, and very compassionate. She loves to learn. Everly is their wild child. Josh and Aimee say she loves hard and plays hard and makes friends with everybody! Deacon is tender-hearted and has a great sense of humor and is always trying to make others laugh. The couple say Deacon is a mama’s boy who is always holding Aimee’s hand and giving her hugs and kisses. All of the kids like playing golf with their dad and going to volleyball games with their mom.  “We have a dog named Bingo. He is a Basenji and can't bark, so if you hear the neighbor's dog barking, it's not ours, lol,” wrote Josh.

In 2020, the Counces bought a house in Aberdeen. They remodeled the whole upstairs and all three bathrooms in their two years there. They never intended to move so quickly, but an off-market property was brought to their attention in Reflection Ridge in 2022. They decided to sell their Aberdeen home and move here. Josh loves golf, so they knew this would be the best Westside neighborhood to buy a home in. Luckily, they both love to renovate, so a 1989 house was the perfect choice for them! They’ve already painted and remodeled a good portion of their current house with a lot more renovation planned!

Aimee attended Friends University, where she played volleyball. She got her degree in health management with a minor in business. Aimee is a realtor and has been since 2019. She has been named in the top 10% of agents in South Central Kansas for three years in a row. She now runs a real estate team, Pure Real Estate, with Keller Williams Hometown Partners. Aimee also coaches high school volleyball for the Wichita Warriors and ONEVA club.

Josh attended a few colleges before deciding college wasn't for him. He is now a home inspector and owns his own business called Bright Light Inspections. He started it in 2020 and spent a few years doing inspections while he was also a Wichita Firefighter. After moving to the neighborhood, he left the fire department to pursue inspections full-time and grow his business.

This active family takes full advantage of living in our neighborhood! Josh loves golf and plays as much as he can. He says his favorite part about living here is the immediate access to play golf and meet other guys who love the game as much as he does. As a family, we like to swim at the neighborhood pool. Since they live so close, they walk or ride there often. Their girls swam on the swim team and absolutely loved it! Occasionally, they like to “ride bikes to ‘the secret park’ (if you know, you know),” says Josh.

The family loves to go on bike rides to the farmers market on Saturdays for fresh produce. Their favorite local restaurants are Bricktown Brewery and Ziggy’s Pizza. The Counces also enjoy taking weekend trips. They love going to The Gathering Place in Tulsa and have taken an annual trip there several years in a row. When they want to relax, the family likes to watch a movie together or sit outside by the fire pit and watch the kids play in the yard.

When watching sports, they love the Denver Broncos, Oklahoma Sooners, and all professional golf. Josh and Aimee are country music fans and also enjoy Christian and alternative music. When it comes to TV, they are big fans of The Office! They also enjoy SuperBook and Bible Man and anything on PureFlix!

Josh and Aimee are both small business owners, so they are very involved in the community. They attend Reliance Community Church and are involved there as well. When asked what legacy or impact you’d like your family to represent or embody, they said “Christ is the center of our family. He is the reason we are here. We want to be a family that people can trust and look to for help anytime.”

What do they like best about our Stroll publications? They said they enjoy reading about other families who are in the same season of life as they are. As a family who moved into the neighborhood and immediately got involved, they suggest to other new families that they go golfing, meet their neighbors, and go to the community pool. We couldn’t agree more! We want to thank the Counce Family for sharing some of their life with all of us. We encourage all of you to be a part of our publication in one way or another.
