Zelda and Link
Two beloved pooches who bring laughter, adventure, and companionship to the McChrystal family.
It is no mystery why dogs hold the title of man’s best friend. They’re outgoing, they’re fun to play with, and they help us produce lots of healthy oxytocin in our brains. McChrystal's pooches, Link, a Cavapoo, and Zelda, a Yorkiepoo, are no different from other dogs like them and are a most welcome part of the family.
From Humble Beginnings
Every dog has an origin story, and Link and Zelda have one of their own to share with the world. “We got Zelda at Sunny Day Puppies,” said McChrystal. “Kind of a funny story, I told Mike when we were dating and even engaged that yes for sure, we would get a dog. Once we got married, I said no, we are not getting a dog. I’m a neat freak and did not want to have a dog ruin the house. It took many years and 3 children later to cave. She has been the best addition to our family.” When asked about the reason behind the names of the dogs, McChrystal responded that “The Nintendo game The Legend of Zelda is how the boys came up with Zelda’s name, while Link is the main character in that game.”
How Dogs Improved Their Lives
“Having Zelda was huge during COVID for our family,” said McChrystal. “She kept us happy and entertained. We went on many park and hike adventures. The family is happy that after several months, Zelda has come around and loves hanging around Link.” The dogs are also able to keep the McChrystal entertained and happy in the post-pandemic years as well. “Link can stand and walk on his hind legs,” said McChrystal. “His watery eyes cause his distinct spots under his eyes. Zelda is like our alarm system and barks at every person or car that comes by our house. Zelda does not like to be cuddled or sit on our laps. It's nice because Link is the opposite and loves it!”
