Meet the Tokar’s!

If you like to have fun, enjoy a nice conversation, and perhaps enjoy a libation, then you need to meet the Tokar’s! Jay and Joanne Tokar moved to St Annes Court this past July.  They are a joy to know and have already made a lot of connections at Red Tail.

Jay grew up in Fairview Park, attended St. Edward High school and John Carroll where he earned his C.P.A. Joanne grew up in Parma and attended BGSU where she earned her RN. Though they have no pets or kids at home, they have a large combined family of six adult children ranging in age from the mid-twenties to forty and seven  grandchildren ranging in  age from 18 months to 10 years old. Their grandchildren are starting to get involved in golf, baseball, dance and soccer.

The two of them enjoy golf, music, traveling, reading, and listening to live music/bands. They enjoy anything from dive bars to fine dining like Chez Francois, and restaurants in between like Veranda, Sangrias, Parkers, and Fratellos, to name a few. They  like to hang out wherever their family and friends are. Their home is host to a lot of get-togethers! When they aren’t entertaining or  out on the town, they like to  kick back, watch a good movie or documentary, and listen to music. Jay loves classic rock and the local artist, Fayrewether, from back in the day. Joanne loves all music from Opera to Rock, Country to Rap…(some Rap). Joanne is a Member of Christ Child Society and they  are members of Avon Oaks Country Club.

The two travel often: Trains, planes, ships, and automobiles.  Together they  have been to Europe several times, and have cruised Europe, Alaska, and the  Caribbean. They took trains throughout  the Rocky Mountains and across the Canadian Rockies from Vancouver to Montreal. They try to visit their one son in Los Angeles a few times a year and travel to Florida often during the Winter months.

The Tokar’s are very family oriented and proud of their heritage! Jay is Hungarian so they enjoy dishes like stuffed cabbage, stuffed peppers, goulash, chicken paprikash and lots of paprika! Joanne is 100% Sicilian, so sauce and pasta are a standard, along with chicken/veal cutlets, and all the typical Italian dishes with lots of good bread! As their home is the hub for all gatherings, their family is always together for the holidays. Their traditions include  gathering  together to prepare the Thanksgiving dinner and decorating the Christmas tree  the day after Thanksgiving.

What is their favorite part about living in your neighborhood? They  have met such lovely people since moving here in July. Their small cul-de-sac is filled with amazing neighbors. Joanne has made friends with the women of Red Tail having been welcomed by the golfers on the Thursday night leagues and some neighbors who really like wine!! They  feel blessed to be here.
