Meet Bunker, the Mini Dachshund with a Giant Heart
From golf-course pup to dental office darling, this floppy-eared fluffball has become the soulful center of the Mazzeo-Lorenzo family

There’s a new kind of joy trotting around the Mazzeo-Lorenzo household—a tiny, long-haired bundle of fluff named Bunker. Just three months old, this cream-colored miniature dachshund has already claimed his place as the center of attention, love, and laughter in the home.
Bunker joined the family after a recommendation from their friend, Lauren Carge, who had found their furry companion through Benedict Doxies, a reputable breeder in the Columbus area. After some back-and-forth about dog preferences—one favoring a big dog, the other a smaller companion—the long-haired cream mini dachshund was the perfect compromise. Living on a golf course, the name “Bunker” just made sense, especially since his coat matches the color of a sand trap.
From the very beginning, Bunker has been full of personality. He’s a classic “velcro dog,” always close at hand (or underfoot), determined never to miss a moment. His exuberant reunions with his humans—complete with flying leaps into their arms—have quickly become one of their most cherished rituals. He’s an affectionate little guy, known for doling out generous kisses and flopping over on his back at the feet of friends and strangers alike, eagerly awaiting a belly rub.
And those ears—floppy, oversized, and adorably disproportionate—are just one of the many things that make him irresistibly cute. His family hopes he never grows into them.
While Bunker’s cuteness is undeniable, he’s also quite the character. During a trip to Paris, his humans enrolled him in a puppy boot camp, where he picked up a few tricks—but more importantly, discovered his love for baby pools filled with empty water bottles. The sound, the chaos, the joy—it was Bunker heaven. The family quickly recreated the setup at home, much to his delight.
Spoiling Bunker is more of a lifestyle than an occasional indulgence. He has his own stroller for long walks, custom ramps to access the furniture, car seats, airplane carriers, a rotation of cozy beds, and a toy collection that would make any pup jealous. His favorite hangouts? Specific claimed spots on the couch that no one dares to challenge.
His charm extends beyond the home, too. As a regular at Caitlyn’s dental practice, Bunker has become something of a celebrity—winning over both staff and patients with his gentle nature and snuggly presence. The hope is for him to become a certified emotional support animal for the office, a role he’s already fulfilling in spirit.
Bunker may only be a few months old, but he has deeply enriched the lives of his family. His arrival has brought laughter, comfort, and a kind of unconditional love they never imagined possible. From the golf course to the dental office, he’s proof that the smallest pups can fill the biggest hearts.
