Cole Veverka

For the last ten years, 14 year old Cole Veverka has been kicking a soccer ball around the city, state, country, and even out of the country in Spain. Now as a freshman at Avon high School, Cole is playing on both the junior varsity and varsity teams as a defender. Cole’s parents, Kim and Brandon, have been his biggest supporters as they are always there to support him in any sport or activity.
Not only does Cole play soccer for his high school, but also he is a member of Team Challenger FC which is a club team that practices in Lorain. In addition he has participated in MIC football which is a very big tournament in Spain with many famous pro youth academies participating in the event. Impressively, Cole has also participated in the Olympic Development Program which is a big youth soccer development program that spans across the entire country. As though that all wasn’t enough, Cole has played in the National League Pro in which he travels to cities to play some of the best teams around the country to earn a spot at nationals.
All of this play has earned Cole’s club team many tournament wins, state titles, and national recognition.
One of his favorite moments is when his club team won the state cup in a penalty shootout! He attributes his soccer achievements to his team, as soccer is a team sport. These team members have become his friends who he enjoys being around and having fun with on and off the field.
Cole idolizes Paulo Maldini because he was always ready to compete when he played and Cole always wanted to be ready to compete against his opponents, as well. As if playing soccer in Spain wasn’t exciting enough, Cole had a special opportunity to meet Luca Kolesho, a famous soccer player, as well!
One tip Cole would give to someone looking to get into soccer is that soccer is very competitive and you have to be ready to compete. Also, to be elite you have to be willing to continually work hard and put in the time and effort at training. Cole believes that without teamwork, it’s hard to achieve your goals.
After graduating high school Cole plans to go to college and hopefully keep his soccer career going. We wish Cole well and know we will see more championships from him locally and in his travel tournaments.
