Home on the Fairway

From golf course traditions to spirited game-day rivalries, the Red Tail community is home to one fun-loving, close-knit crew. The Disher family blends Midwest roots, career ambition, and a deep love for sports, travel, and neighborhood connection.

Fairways & Family: Meet the Crew Behind the Cart
When you see a golf cart cruising through Red Tail with a wagging black-and-white Havapoo in tow, chances are you’ve spotted John, Danielle, sons Pierce and Brooks Disher, and their dog, Lucy- a family that blends sports, laughter, and community spirit into everyday life.

Midwest Roots, Cleveland Chapter
John (Findlay, OH) and Danielle (Pickerington, OH) met in Columbus on St. Patrick’s Day in 2007—a lucky beginning to what would become a busy, adventure-filled life together. After living in several Columbus suburbs and raising their boys in Dublin, the family relocated to Cleveland in 2021 when Sherwin-Williams moved Danielle north. In 2022, they found their home in Red Tail—and quickly found their people.

Danielle works in Store Experience Marketing for Sherwin-Williams, while Pierce followed in her footsteps (keeping it in the “Sherfam!”) as a Financial Auditor after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business and Barrett, The Honors College in May 2025. This March, he heads to Atlanta to continue building his career—making his family incredibly proud.

John is a Senior Executive in Healthcare Software Sales, while Brooks, a first grader at Avon, is already building an impressive athletic résumé of his own.

Sports, Sports… and More Sports
In this household, game days can get interesting.

John cheers passionately for Ohio State, the Kansas City Chiefs (loyal since age four), the Athletics, plus hometown favorites the Cavs and Guardians. Danielle brings equal enthusiasm for Michigan (Go Blue!) and the Pittsburgh Steelers—creating at least one “I still love you but don’t like you” day each year during the Ohio State/Michigan rivalry.

Pierce adds Ohio State, the Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Reds, and Oklahoma City Thunder to the mix. Brooks diplomatically supports almost everyone—except the Falcons, purely to irritate his big brother.

Beyond spectating, Brooks stays busy playing baseball, basketball, flag football, and soccer—and hopes to join the Red Tail golf team soon. The sports schedule alone could qualify as a part-time job.

Community on the Course
Red Tail has become much more than a place to live—it’s become home. The guys are regulars on the golf course, Danielle enjoys summers by the patio and pool, and the entire family loves trivia nights and clubhouse events.

In fact, John’s now-legendary “4th Tee Drink Stop” began in 2022 as a way to meet neighbors during a golf event. It worked—and continues to be a favorite tradition during big tournaments.

Without an extended family in Cleveland, their neighbors have become their support system. Patio hangouts, golf cart rides, and spontaneous gatherings have created bonds that feel like family.

Travel, Traditions & Together Time
When they’re not cheering or golfing, the family loves to travel. Favorite destinations include Ireland, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Turks & Caicos. John often selects vacation spots based on golf courses, while Danielle is happiest with a white sandy beach and a good book. For the past eight years, they’ve vacationed with their close friends, the Butler family from Rocky River—balancing family-friendly Spring Break trips with occasional adults-only escapes.

At home, traditions run deep. Christmas means picking out a real tree, driving around to see lights, and keeping up with the antics of their Elf on the Shelf, Pinky. The Fourth of July brings a big cookout and fireworks with friends. Even winding down each evening—after Brooks is tucked in—means sharing a glass of wine from their growing collection.

Board games, card nights, concerts at Jacob’s Pavilion, watching The Amazing Race and American Ninja Warrior—it all adds up to one thing: intentional family time.

The Best Part
Ask what they love most about Red Tail, and the answer comes quickly: the people.

Golf for the guys, pool days for Danielle, a sports-loving crew for Brooks, and a welcoming, social community for all. What started as a relocation has become something far more meaningful.

In Red Tail, they didn’t just find a house.
They found home.
