If you’ve ever driven along I-25, chances are good you’ve seen Colorado Boat Center’s famous sign – Your Wife Called, She Said You Can Buy a Boat! She called again to tell you that it’s time to get ready for the best time of year – boating season.

 

Colorado Boat Center is locally owned and family-operated. Tom and Nancy Smith started the business in 1982 after his side business sewing boat covers took off. They built a business with customer service at the forefront. It didn’t take long to grow into one of the largest boat dealers in the region. More than ten years ago, Tom and Nancy’s kids, Eric, and Ashley, joined the family business.

 

The four Smiths now co-own the business and run it together. Eric is the General Manager and helps lead the day-to-day business. Ashley is often the client’s first connection, running the sales department. Nancy coordinates the transaction and delivery of the boat, and Tom still gives all clients a two-hour walk-through of the boat after the sale.

 

With summer on the horizon, the Colorado Boat Center team is ready to help their customers prepare for the summer season “This is the time of year to get ready for boat season so you can have a worry-free summer,” said Eric. “You don’t want to get out on the water and find an issue. Take care of it now so that your summer is safe and fun.”

 

“We’re here to help you get your batteries checked and oil changed. We can help you make sure your boat is clean and in working condition. We want your boat to be completely ready for what’s to come,” he said.

 

“Now is also the time of year to book your campsite reservations so you get a spot at the good boating lakes,” he added. “You should make sure that the life vests still fit those growing kids and that all your gear is still in good condition.”

 

If it’s a new boat you’re in the market for, Colorado Boat Center has a new model they’re proud to sell – Regal Boats. “These are the perfect boats for Colorado,” Eric said. “Regal makes luxury family boats from 20 - 42 feet long. They have surf-style boats and day cruisers with tons of customizations. The main thing is that we sell brands that coincide with our values – customer service, craftsmanship, and quality of the boat which improves the overall experience. Regal has that and more.”

 

In a testament to these very values Colorado Boat Center holds, the dealership just won a major award. At the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas annual event, the Center was voted Best Dealership to Work For in the entire country. “This award is given based on nominations from our employees. We had no idea,” said Eric. “Talk about an honor. We work hard to make this a great place to work and I’m still so shocked that we won.” The Center has eleven full-time employees who all work hard to ensure that every customer has a great boating season.

 

As in years past, Colorado Boat Center will be offering boating and wake surfing classes this summer. This gives customers a chance to learn the ins and outs of their new boat and try out the hottest new products. “Our goal is to give people the tools they need to be safe on the water and have a blast,” said Eric. Their summer class schedule is open to all customers; details will be posted on their website soon.

 

“We just feel so lucky to work with people who love what we love – being on the water. We have the best team and incredible clients,” said Eric. “We never take any of this for granted.”
