Something magical happens when young girls feel seen, heard, and celebrated for exactly who they are—and in the Ptarmigan neighborhood, that magic has been glowing bright. As Glow Getters™️continues to grow across Northern Colorado, we’re thrilled to spotlight this incredible nonprofit and the powerful impact we’ve witnessed, especially through young Ptarmigan resident Karlynn Dees (age 11), who is a beautiful reflection of what Glow Getters™️is all about.

It’s hard to believe that this all started in 2021 with just 18 bright-eyed tween girls who showed up for something brand new and left forever changed. Today, over 80 girls have gone through the Glow Getters™️program, and the ripple effect of that magic is reaching homes, schools, and hearts all across our region.

This summer, we’ll celebrate our 5th annual Glow Getters™️Tween Event on June 12th, hosted once again at Just For Kix—a vibrant dance and event space generously donated annually by the amazing Christin Randall. We’re expecting to hit our 40-girl capacity again this year, and trust us—it’s going to be one for the books.

So what makes Glow Getters™️so special? Let’s break it down:

We’re more than just an event—we’re a movement, powered by confidence, creativity, and connection. We’ve created a space where girls ages 9–14 come together to dream big, make real friendships, and, most importantly, be fully themselves.

Every First Year Glow Getter receives a personalized Glow Book, which includes a professional photo from a one-on-one Chy Creative photo session—a gift that helps each girl see just how special she really is. These books quickly become treasured keepsakes and serve as a kind of empowerment yearbook—packed with uplifting words, goals, and affirmations.

We also host a favorite activity of both girls and moms: vision boarding. There’s something powerful about watching a girl bring her hopes and dreams to life through images and words. Seeing how each board reflects her unique personality and goals is creative, fun, and incredibly inspiring.

And the cherry on top? Our beloved Paper Plate Award Ceremony, where we celebrate every girl with a custom affirmation award—fun, heartfelt, and totally unforgettable. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll want to frame it. (And yes, it’s really written on a paper plate, but its meaning is priceless.)

Karlynn Dees, a Ptarmigan local who joined us in 2023, is a shining example of a Glow Getter who found her sparkle. When Karlynn first arrived, she was a little shy, but oh-so-ready to connect. Her kind heart and artistic spirit made her a fast friend to many. She especially loved our vision boarding session, where her creativity bloomed. Karlynn radiates as a young artist and earned herself the well-deserved title of “Best Doodler” in our paper plate awards. We couldn’t be more proud of how she showed up, grew, and made friends.

But this isn’t just about fun and friendship (although there’s plenty of that!). We’re also serious about raising leaders. When girls age out of Glow Getters™️Tween at 14, we invite them to return as volunteers, speakers, and mentors because we believe in lifting girls up and empowering them to lift others.

We also believe that giving back is a huge part of becoming a leader. Through our community service partnership Pack-A-Pack, in collaboration with Candice Redman’s nonprofit Walk Our Way (W.O.W.), Glow Getters™️girls have donated and filled over 80 backpacks with essentials and school supplies for students in need in our Weld RE-4 district. It’s a tangible way for girls to understand the impact of generosity and service—and they LOVE it.

We’re in the exciting early stages of building our Glow Getters™️Gives scholarship program, which will provide financial assistance to girls in need after high school. Whether it’s for continuing education, entrepreneurship, or pursuing a dream that’s close to her heart, we want to be a part of making it happen. Because supporting her glow doesn’t stop at 14—it lasts a lifetime.

At the core of everything we do is one core value: Girls supporting Girls. We’re on a mission to shift the narrative away from jealousy, bullying, and competition and toward inclusion, support, and genuine sisterhood. Our Glow Getters™️are taught to be includers—girls who cheer others on, stand up for kindness, and lead with empathy.
