The Royal Trio

Meet the Walton Family’s Cavalier King Charles Spaniels—Pippa, Maggie Mae & Lola

If you've ever strolled through Pinnacle Country Club and heard a cheerful bark or spotted a fluffy pup rolling in the grass, chances are you’ve encountered one of the beloved Walton Cavaliers. Brenda and Jerry Walton have lived in Pinnacle since 1992, drawn by the security, the vibrant local scene, and, of course, the exceptional Country Club. Over the years, their home has also become a cozy haven for a special breed of dog that has truly stolen their hearts.

The Waltons are proud parents to Pippa (7), Maggie Mae (3), and baby Lola (9 months)—all three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. This British toy breed has a lineage dating back to 16th-century England and is known for its affectionate nature, gentle expression, and ultimate lapdog tendencies. The Waltons have raised eight Cavaliers over the years and credit their love affair with the breed to a friend who met a Cavalier in Ireland and immediately knew Jerry and Brenda needed to meet one. After doing their research, they brought home their first Cavalier from a breeder in Tennessee—and the rest is history.

Three Dogs, Three Personalities

Each of the Walton pups has her own personality and charm. Pippa, the eldest, was named after Princess Kate’s sister and, according to both Jerry and Brenda, can tell time. “Almost every night at 8:30 PM, she comes over and stares a hole through us—it’s bedtime, and she’s ready!” Maggie Mae, named during a fun “redneck” moment, is playful and doting. And then there’s Lola, the spunky youngest with a flair for attention. She even rings her own doggy doorbell when she wants to go outside!

The Cavaliers are inseparable and have a deep love not only for their humans but also for each other. One of Jerry and Brenda’s favorite memories is watching Maggie Mae become a mother. They bred her with a Cavalier from Germany and were lucky enough to visit shortly after she delivered four adorable puppies. That visit sealed the deal—they chose little Lola and welcomed her into their hearts and home.

A Dog’s Life at Pinnacle

Their days are filled with fun and joy. The trio enjoys going on walks, chasing squirrels, and playing with their favorite toys—especially golf balls! Treat time is a sacred ritual, with Greenies and Cheerios being the top favorites. They expect them like clockwork every time they come inside or get tucked into bed.
Neighborhood children—Cameron, Skylar, and Lily—are the pups’ best playmates. “Our dogs will run to the edge of the yard and bark for them to come over,” Jerry laughs. “People walking by might think they’re aggressive, but they wouldn’t bite a biscuit if you put one right in their mouth!”

Picture-Perfect Pups

The Waltons have also captured their Cavaliers’ bond through professional pet photography. Deborah Billingsley has photographed the trio many times, including a tender image of Pippa kissing Maggie Mae that hangs in their bedroom. “It really captures the love they share,” Brenda says. She provided the beautiful photos for this article. To see more of Deborah’s work, visit www.deborahbillingsley.com.

From bedtime stares to puppy doorbells and biscuit-worthy charm, Pippa, Maggie Mae, and Lola are more than just pets—they're a joyful, four-legged extension of the Walton family and a delightful part of the Pinnacle community.
