The Sink That Stole the Spotlight
Meet Carla and Gaetano Cacace, the husband-and-wife team who crafted a stunning kitchen sink in their Old Westbury home that captivated the internet.

Like many of us, I often find myself scrolling through Instagram for a bit of design inspiration. One day, I came across a House Beautiful post that instantly caught my eye - a kitchen sink made entirely of Calacatta Viola marble. It was breathtaking. The original post was actually a video featuring baby ducks paddling around in the basin of the sink (yes, really), but it was the craftsmanship of the sink that truly captivated viewers and quickly sent the post viral.
Curious to learn more, I clicked through and was surprised to find that the designer behind the post wasn’t just some faraway influencer. She’s an interior designer, her husband is a marble artisan, and together they created this stunning piece for their own kitchen…right here in Old Westbury!
We connected shortly after and I had the pleasure of meeting them in person. I’m thrilled to introduce you to our talented neighbors, Carla and Gaetano Cacace, and the showstopping marble sink that became a local Instagram celebrity.
When did you move to Old Westbury, and what drew you to the area?
We moved to Old Westbury when our family realized we needed more space; for our children, for our animals, and for ourselves. What drew us here was the combination of classic charm, privacy, and open green spaces. It’s a peaceful retreat, yet still close to everything we need. It felt like the perfect place to grow our roots.
What do you love most about living in Old Westbury?
We love the sense of tranquility and elegance. There’s a timeless beauty in Old Westbury - the trees, the architecture, the space. It gives us the freedom to live in tune with nature, while still embracing our love for classic design and beautiful materials. It truly feels like home.
How does your home reflect your family’s personality?
Our home is a perfect reflection of who we are: warm, passionate, and deeply connected to our heritage. I’m Brazilian with Italian roots, and my husband is Italian. That mix is present in every detail of our home: the timeless lines, the rich materials, the touches of European charm, and the welcoming, family-centered layout. It’s elegant but lived-in - a place where beauty meets real life.
What inspired the design of that gorgeous sink and kitchen space?
The inspiration came from traditional English country kitchens with a French twist. I love the balance between rustic charm and refined elegance. I wanted a kitchen that felt timeless, with artisanal details and rich textures. The marble sink is a statement piece - handcrafted with care, it’s both functional and sculptural.
What was your vision when designing this home? Did you start from scratch or renovate?
We renovated the house completely. Our vision was to create a classic, European-inspired retreat; a space where every detail felt intentional, with the warmth of a family home. My husband and I worked closely together: I brought the vision and interior design, and he brought the craftsmanship and expertise with marble. It was a true collaboration from beginning to end.
What are some of your favorite marble features throughout the house?
It’s hard to choose just one! The marble fireplace is one of my favorites - it brings elegance and warmth to our living space. The custom kitchen sink and countertops are also very special to me. Each piece was chosen or designed to feel timeless and unique, and all were crafted with love by my husband and his team.
What is the name of your husband’s business, and what does it specialize in?
The company is called Euromarmi. They specialize in all types of marble work - from kitchens and bathrooms to custom sinks, fireplaces, and architectural details. The craftsmanship is rooted in generations of Italian expertise. It’s more than a business, it’s a family legacy.
How did his background in marble fabrication influence the design of your home?
It influenced everything. Because my husband understands marble so deeply - not just technically, but artistically - we were able to design truly unique pieces for our home. He knows how to bring out the soul of each stone, and that added an extraordinary layer of authenticity and beauty to the entire house.
What’s your background with interior design? Is it a passion, profession, or both?
It’s both. I’m a professional interior designer, but it started with passion. I’ve always been fascinated by spaces that tell a story, by how design can create emotion and identity. I love mixing textures, styles, and histories to create something truly personal. For me, design is not just about beauty; it’s about feeling.
Do you collaborate on projects together outside your home?
Yes, absolutely. Our skills complement each other beautifully. I lead the interior design and creative direction, and he brings the stonework expertise and execution. We’ve worked on several projects together, and it’s always an inspiring process. Each space becomes a canvas where design and craftsmanship meet.
