For Carly and Matthew Ferentinos, the road to the Old Village was paved with equal parts fate and faith. 

Although they grew up in the same hometown, their paths never crossed until November 27th, 2021, when their best friends finally succeeded in introducing them at their wedding in Baltimore. These friends had been trying to set Carly and Matthew up for years, but they had always just missed each other. Their connection was instantaneous—true love at first sight—they were inseparable on the dance floor that night and forever after. 

This June marks four years of the couple’s life together in the Old Village! Originally from the D.C. area, they were immediately drawn to the southern charm and beautiful weather here. After only a few months of long-distance dating, they decided to take the ultimate leap: purchasing a home together. While friends and family initially thought the timeline was daring, any doubts vanished on closing day when they saw the incredible neighborhood the couple now calls home.

When their house first hit the market on June 26, 2022, several people immediately sent Carly the listing, knowing she and Matthew were searching for a welcoming community. The interest on the property was overwhelming: within a couple of hours, a crowd had already gathered outside the property, with hopeful buyers peeking through the windows to catch a glimpse of the interior. Sensing the urgency, Carly texted the link to their realtor, Parker LeClaire, with a clear directive: "Put in an offer now." Parker called immediately to ask if they were sure, to which Carly replied, "Yes, this is the one." Despite facing five offers by the end of the day, including two all-cash bids, fate was on their side. The sellers, who had lived in the house as newlyweds themselves, chose Carly and Matthew’s offer specifically because they wanted to pass the home to another couple starting their journey as husband and wife. It is a legacy Carly and Matthew have been honored to continue while preparing for their own wedding on April 25th, 2026, at Alhambra Hall.

Both Carly and Matthew bring a high-achieving energy to their professional lives. Matthew, a University of Maryland finance alumnus (Go Terp!), serves as a loan officer working with small businesses at Banc of California. When he isn't helping local entrepreneurs, he is a black belt in karate, a weekend golfer, and the reigning "karaoke king" at local favorites like Sunsets and Bangkok Lounge. Carly is an alumna of Towson University, where she studied Mass Communications with a dual concentration in Public Relations and Advertising. During her time on campus, she served as the student director for a family orientation program that was ranked number one in the country. This experience inspired her to pursue a career that allows her to serve as a mentor in her industry and help others succeed. Today, she works in multifamily marketing for CoStar Group and is a prominent figure in the local industry. Carly serves on the Board of Directors for the Charleston Apartment Association and has earned the title of "Supplier of the Year" at the Diamond Awards for two consecutive years. Carly continues to give back through volunteering with the Charleston Animal Society and Reading Partners, a nonprofit dedicated to one-on-one literacy tutoring for elementary students. In her spare time, Carly loves to read, travel and practice yoga. She recently got back from a yoga retreat in Chiang Mai, Thailand. 

The couple’s daily rhythm is deeply intertwined with the village landscape. They are regulars at HyLo and OrangeTheory, often followed by a morning walk with their two rescue pups, Loki and Thor. Loki, a five-year-old lab mix, was adopted from Libby & Mace’s Place, while Thor was a spontaneous find at a Charleston Animal Society pop-up during a Revelry Brewing block party. The dogs' favorite destination is James B. Edwards Passive Park, where they can usually find a stray tennis ball or two. On Tuesday evenings, Carly and Matthew can be found biking to the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market or stopping by the Village Library to pick up their next read. They are also frequent visitors to Santi’s, Vintage, and Ty’s Roadside Coastal Kitchen, which are just a quick walk away for a happy hour or breakfast. Their commitment to community extends to a "Monday Movie Night" tradition they have maintained with neighbor friends for nearly four years, providing a weekly anchor of friendship and fun.

Whether they are enjoying the year-round beach weather at Station 18 ½ on Sullivan’s Island (with a mandatory stop at Beard Cats for gelato) or exploring the trails at Palmetto Islands County Park, Carly and Matthew have fully embraced the Lowcountry lifestyle. Their shared love for travel has taken them to Japan, Italy, and the Philippines. Now they are eagerly anticipating their honeymoon in Greece this June!

From the blooming azalea season to the elaborate holiday decorations on Pitt Street, Carly and Matthew have found more than just a house; they’ve found a home built on kindness and the simple joy of having a neighbor willing to lend a hand. With their rehearsal dinner and first night as newlyweds set to take place at the Post House Inn, they are ready to begin their next chapter surrounded by the charm and character of the Old Village.
