Where was your trip, how long did you visit, and why did you choose to visit here?
We picked this trip for several reasons. First off, we wanted to experience the longest direct flight in the world which is nineteen hours from NY to Singapore. The flight terrible unless you're flying business class on Singapore Airlines, which was the most relaxing flight I've ever experienced.
Our trip was three weeks long and included Singapore, Borneo (on the Malaysia side) and Bali. I chose Borneo because one of Jacques Cousteau's top five must dive destinations is Sipadan on the east coast In Malaysia. We went to Bali to experience Capella Resort in Ubud, which is rated #7 in the world, #3 in Asia and #1 in Indonesia by Travel and Leisure.
What was your favorite attraction or activity?
We would have to say the world class spa treatments are at the top of the list. Everything from the spa atmosphere to the masseuses' techniques were some of the best that we have experienced. Diving in Borneo and off the coast of Bali was exceptional. The greatest takeaway was diving with 15 foot manta rays.
Monkey Forest in Ubud Bali is a must see. It is touristy but fun to interact with the monkeys. Singapore is impressive for an international city. It’s extremely clean and has a gorgeous skyline. Highly recommend the iconic Raffles Hotel voted number one in Singapore for fantastic Asian cuisine—we didn’t have a bad meal there.
What was your favorite food or restaurant?
The buffets in Bali were fabulous. Shoutout to the Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay!!!
What was unique about the culture, people, and topography?
Locals are very friendly in all three countries, but especially in Bali. As far as topography goes, Bali's beaches were disappointing in comparison to other world class destinations.
Would you go back, and who would you recommend this trip for?
Definitely bucket list destinations, but I recommend visiting them without children. Perfect for wellness and spa seekers. Personally we would not repeat as there are too many other destinations to visit.
Any special tips or travel advice for others who may visit here?
High end shopping in Singapore is a must. Do not rent a vehicle when traveling to these destinations unless you are very comfortable driving in total chaos with virtually no rules of the road.
