My Cup of Tea Baby

Our community loves children. Whether you have them yourself or encounter them around the neighborhood, Oakmont Estates appreciates the magic of childhood and the joy little ones bring to everything they touch. Our featured sponsor this month loves kids and babies and seeks to add something special to every special occasion. My Cup of Tea Baby is a genuinely unique local boutique, a source of wonder for all who visit, and most importantly a great place to find a stand-out gift for the special child in your life.

“My Cup of Tea is a children's clothing, accessories, and toy boutique,” owner and manager Morgan Fadke tells us.  “I did not start the business but bought it about 2 years ago. I worked here through college and when I graduated, I asked the owners if they were ready to sell. They were not, I waited about 2 years to purchase and make it my own!” For Morgan, making it her own means continuing to provide a truly irreplaceable experience to both children and parents via a carefully cultivated inventory: “I believe we are unique from the brands we carry. They are high quality and different from any you probably see around town.”

The items featured at My Cup of Tea Baby include offers infant and children's clothing up to age 7 for boys and 10 for girls, and a broader selection of toys, books, and other items for both babies and children. Morgan wanted her business to stand apart from the existing boutiques and specialty shops in Lubbock: “I’ve always wanted to do women’s clothing, when I was younger, so then working in the children’s clothing business appealed. There are so many women’s boutiques in Lubbock that I wanted to try something different.” Even a cursory glance at the selection found in her shop proves this to be true—there’s something here for every child that’s as special and unique as they are.

A Tech graduate with a degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management, Morgan work at My Cup of Tea through her college years before—with a little encouragement—taking the plunge into business ownership: My dad gave me the idea—I wanted to be an event planner when I went to college so I didn’t have retail in my mind. He put that idea in my brain and the couple that owned it was a little older. I didn’t know if they had offers and I thought they might be ready to retire if someone offered.” As a store for families, My Cup of Tea continues to be a family endeavor for Morgan, who is quick to credit her father’s business advice, her mother’s help on the creative side, and the support of her extended family for her success. Her brother and sister-in-law have just welcomed a new baby, and we’re told that Morgan’s niece is decked out in My Cup of Tea Clothing most of the time.

When not busy planning her own March wedding, Morgan can be found at My Cup of Tea working to ensure that her customers and clients have the perfect experience on each visit: “I feel like our clothes are really unique, we do a very large age range and it’s a different look that what you find elsewhere. Our customer service is really good, and we do our best to have the most unique toys, accessories, that kind of thing.”

Whether you’re a parent, a grandparent, or just shopping for a child you love, My Cup of Tea Baby will have something for you. Drop by and see the magic for yourself—you might discover a little childlike wonder you forgot you had.
