Hello neighbors! My name is Lena Furlong, and I’m a proud Petaluma homeowner, mom, and the founder of Sol Landscapes. With over 25 years in the green industry, my journey began at the Marin County Parks Department, where I fell in love with irrigation and water systems. That early spark evolved into a full-blown passion for plant life, design, and thoughtful land stewardship.

In 2013, I launched Sol Landscapes with a vision to create something different, a landscape company built on quality, integrity, and community. At the time, I had just welcomed a new baby and knew I wanted to build a sustainable model that could support not just my family but others as well. In 2015, we incorporated and our mission remains simple but powerful: we rise together.

Sol Landscapes is a full-service design and build company that walks with you every step of the way, from initial design to installation, and well beyond. We handle everything from underground development and irrigation to patios, plantings, site furnishings, and more. After the project is complete, we don’t just walk away. We continue to care for your landscape as long-term partners and stewards of the land. We also offer high-level concierge property care for select clients, everything from vendor coordination to janitorial needs and even holiday décor!

What makes us different? It’s our commitment to long-term partnership. Our designs are tailored to each client’s land, lifestyle, and goals. We don’t just build beautiful spaces, we build lasting relationships. Many of our clients have been with us for over a decade, and we’re honored to be a trusted part of their property journeys.

Community is truly at the heart of what we do. I’m an active member of the Petaluma Rotary Club, where I take part in service projects like the renovation of the Polly Klaas Community Theater. Sol Landscapes also donates time and materials to projects like the garden boxes at PEP Housing. We believe that giving back isn’t just good business, it’s who we are.

Of course, like any business, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges, especially around maintaining sustainable growth while balancing client demand. We’ve learned to navigate inflation and rising costs by being more transparent and values-driven in our communication and planning. These experiences have helped us grow stronger and more intentional in everything we do.

Looking ahead, our focus is on deepening our roots in Petaluma. We want to build more connections in neighborhoods like Oakhill Brewster and help more families bring their outdoor dreams to life, without ever compromising the personal attention we’re known for.
