Cleats, Conjugations & a Calling: Caroline Smith’s High School Journey

From soccer star to future nurse, Caroline Smith’s time at The Brook Hill School was filled with leadership, language, and lasting memories. Now she takes the next step—ready to serve, lead, and shine.

Meet Caroline Grace Smith: Oak Creek resident, daughter of Brandon and Brandy Smith, sister of Hannah and Sarah, and now, a high school graduate. Caroline, sometimes called “C,” is graduating from The Brook Hill School in Bullard.

At The Brook Hill School, Caroline was a student ambassador and a varsity soccer captain. “I also took four years of Spanish throughout high school and was secretary of the Spanish club,” Caroline shares. “I love getting involved on campus and connecting with the boarding kids at my school from all over the world.” It’s apparent Caroline had an amazing experience at The Brook Hill School, and she gives her teachers credit for molding that experience. “All my teachers were amazing but I’m especially thankful for my Spanish teacher sophomore year (Mrs. Story) for investing in me and making sure I never lacked confidence or encouragement.”

Throughout Caroline’s time in high school, she experienced a lot of memorable moments. For her, prom night was the most memorable. While prom was the best, her achievements in and out of the classroom are moments she’ll never forget; specifically, her achievements on the soccer field are going to be very hard to forget. She was district MVP, first-team all-state, first team all-district, and district offensive player of the year. While Caroline has now achieved her goal of graduating high school, she was collecting a multitude of goals out on the field long before.

In her free time, Caroline loves to take walks, play pickleball, and watch sports of any kind. Balancing life, athletics, and academics can sometimes be challenging, but Caroline learned how to find the balance. “Finding time for everything is hard but prioritizing friends, sports, and also getting schoolwork done on time is manageable by giving yourself rest so everything can get done,” Caroline shares. She says if she could offer advice to her freshman self, she would tell her to not procrastinate, and to find the balance between schoolwork and investing in friendships, as memories last longer than grades.

Caroline is thankful for her community, whose encouragement and support helped set her on a path to a bright future. This future includes attending East Texas Baptist University, where she will continue her soccer career and pursue a degree in nursing. “The medical field (specifically nursing) interests me the most because I have spent tons of time in rehab and recovery myself from injuries, and I’d love to relate to patients and give encouragement like some of the best nurses I’ve had,” Caroline says.

Out in the world, Caroline hopes to show the love of Jesus through everything she does. She says if her high school experience was a movie, it would be called Cleats, Conjugations, and Chaos, because her “high school consisted mainly of soccer and Spanish with lots of chaos.” The soundtrack to her senior year would be “Don’t Blink” by Kenny Chesney, because Caroline says it goes by fast. If she could have dinner with any historical figure, she would share a meal with Princess Diana, because she finds her life so interesting and “would love to straighten out the conspiracy theories.” As she moves on from high school and into the world, Caroline Smith will be a joy and a light to everyone she meets, be it on the soccer field, in the medical field, and wherever life takes her. Congratulations, Caroline!
