MAKING A DIFFERENCE, ONE LIFE AT A TIME
St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Immaculate Conception is a lay, volunteer organization that works locally to serve neighbors in need through their food pantry, clothing distribution, financial assistance, home visits, and more. As the only Catholic food pantry in Tyler, they have served the city and their parish community for over 30 years. SVdP relies fully on the support of parishioners- through time, talent, and treasure - to operate. They are committed to minimizing hunger in the community, and serving everyone they encounter with Christ's love.
SVdP runs a pantry Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Every month they supply over 1,000 families with groceries. They also distribute clothing and household needs - everything from blankets to diapers to deodorant and shoes.
On Wednesdays, SVdP partners with the Cathedral for Feed my Lambs which is a hot lunch served to over 170 people every week. Their volunteers also conduct home visits for the homebound and elderly where they share in community and bring necessities such as food and household goods.
SVdP helps their neighbors through emergency circumstances with utility assistance and pharmacy assistance for the uninsured. Clients seeking assistance attend a budgeting session. During Christmas, SVdP organizes the Angel Tree to help families give gifts to their children.
St. Vincent de Paul's work relies on volunteers, from their leadership to food drives, they rely on you, their community. The work is funded through parishioner support, the SVdP Thrift Store (2001 W Erwin Street) , grants from the community, and the annual Walk for the Poor.
