The Dog Who Opens Doors

Once struggling with separation anxiety, Zoey the sheepadoodle has grown into a confident companion who now waits peacefully for her family to return.

Zoey, the four-year-old sheepadoodle, was adopted by Chayce and Victoria Stone shortly after their Maltese passed away three years ago. All the Stones liked the name Zoey, and it resembled her previous name, “Josie.” She sometimes goes by the name “Zoe-Zoe.” Zoey is a little Houdini.

When the Stones first adopted her, she had major separation anxiety, so she would have to be kenneled when they left the house. Eventually, she learned how to break out of her iron kennel, and she has opened the garage door on two separate occasions. Victoria and Chayce say breaking out of their house is her best party trick.

Zoey is a big fan of any of the fluffy toys she finds around the house, whether they’re hers or not. She loves playing with her friends Lambo and Murphy and visiting Rose City Animal Clinic. If she could tag along on every family outing, she would be in heaven.

The Stones say it did take time for Zoey to feel safe in their home because of her separation anxiety, but it was the best feeling when they were able to leave her at home, kennel-free, and arrive back home to two things: no damage and a happy Zoey. She finally understood that her family would be back home.

Don’t you worry, Zoey; they’re always coming back for you!
