TILLMAN LAW OFFICE, PLLC

A Family Tradition of Service

For Sean Tillman, the practice of law is more than a profession—it’s a family tradition built on dedication, hard work, and helping others. As partner and managing attorney at Tillman Law Office, PLLC, Sean works alongside his father, Steve, carrying forward a legacy of service that spans 50 years in Louisville.

Born and raised in Kentucky, Sean grew up in Louisville and Mount Washington, attending St. Rita for grade school, St. Xavier for high school, and later the University of Kentucky. He earned his law degree from Ave Maria School of Law, where he also met his future wife, Brigid. Together, they have three young sons—Lincoln (8), Declan (4), and Finn (2)—and have been proud Norton Commons residents for the past decade.

Interestingly, Sean didn’t always plan to follow in his father’s footsteps. “I never wanted to be an attorney,” he admits. “But I always admired my dad—how hard he worked and how much he helped people.” A turning point came after college when Sean weighed two paths: to enlist in the Army or to take the LSAT. He chose law, and the rest is history.

Tillman Law Office, a small but busy family-owned firm, recently moved into its new office on Smyrna Parkway. With a staff of seven, the practice brings a personal touch to every client. Sean focuses exclusively on personal injury cases—motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and more—while Steve concentrates on estate planning, family law, and bankruptcy. “When you hire us, you actually interact with your attorney throughout the entire process,” Sean explains.“Our expertise, attention to detail, and hands-on interaction with our clients sets us apart.”

Despite their workload, community involvement remains a priority. Sean supports Camp Hero Kentucky, a nonprofit serving wounded veterans and first responders, and both he and Steve contribute to local parishes and schools, including St. Francis Xavier Church and St. Mary’s Academy. The firm also helps sponsor youth sports teams, reflecting the Tillman family’s love for athletics.

Life outside the office is just as full. Lincoln plays travel baseball, Declan enjoys both baseball and soccer, and little Finn rules the roost at home. Brigid is active in the Norton Commons Moms’ Group, while both she and Sean enjoy participating in local fantasy football leagues. Family memberships at Watch Hill Proper and Glen Oaks Country Club keep them connected to neighbors and friends.

Sean acknowledges that time is the greatest challenge in balancing business, family, and service. But he wouldn’t have it any other way. “We work hard and take pride in what we do,” he says.

When it comes to serving clients, Sean emphasizes the value of professional guidance. “There are so many things that can go wrong when people try to handle cases themselves. We can almost always get you a significantly better settlement. Plus, we take on all the risks and do all the work for you.

“I always say, ‘If you think you need a lawyer, then you probably do…’ And we’re here to help.”
