Closet Factory of Kentucky

Custom Solutions, Community Impact

When it comes to transforming homes through thoughtful, functional, and personalized design, Closet Factory of Kentucky stands out as a trusted partner and leader in the world of storage solutions. Locally owned and operated by Laura and Bill Weldon, this family-run business blends craftsmanship, innovation, and community care to offer more than just beautiful closets—it delivers life-enhancing organization.

Laura, a lifelong Louisvillian and proud graduate of the University of Louisville’s Nursing School, spent over 30 years in the healthcare field. Her husband, Bill, a West Point graduate and Army veteran, transitioned from military service to corporate leadership before finding his passion in small business ownership. The couple’s journey led them to Closet Factory in 2021, a natural next step for two people who had long enjoyed projects in home improvement and design. Their oldest son, Kyle, plays a key role in the business as Director of Engineering & Design.

Closet Factory of Kentucky has been serving the area since 1999 and is part of a national brand founded in Los Angeles in 1983. While “closet” is in the name, their offerings go far beyond. From pantries and laundry rooms to garages, entertainment centers, mudrooms, and even custom bars, their work blends function with flair. Each project is tailored to the client’s needs, lifestyle, and personal taste, all designed and manufactured locally in their Louisville factory.

What truly sets Closet Factory apart is their fully custom approach. Their designers collaborate closely with each client to create a solution that aligns with the client’s goals—both practical and aesthetic. Projects can range from luxury walk-in closets with chandeliers and watch centers to simple, budget-friendly utility upgrades. Regardless of size or scale, every project is backed by a lifetime warranty and built with precision by their team of skilled craftsmen and installers.

The Weldon's journey hasn’t been without its challenges. When Laura and Bill took over the business shortly after the pandemic, they faced outdated systems and equipment. Through grit, investment, and strategic upgrades—including new European fabrication technology—they’ve revitalized operations and fueled steady growth.

Closet Factory of Kentucky’s commitment extends far beyond design. In 2023, they founded Closet Factory Cares, a charitable initiative supporting local children in foster care. For every project sold, the company donates a backpack filled with essential items to children in transition. “Every child deserves dignity,” Laura shares, “and this is our way of offering a little more stability during a stressful time.” In just two years, they’ve supported over 500 children locally through partnerships with Hope’s Closet, Roo’s Wish, and Boys & Girls Haven.

For anyone considering a home upgrade, Laura and Bill offer this advice: “You begin and end your day in your closet—why not feel great about it?” From personalized lounge spaces to clever storage for every corner of your home, Closet Factory of Kentucky turns clutter into calm and homes into havens.
