When & where did you adopt your pet?
Romey joined our family 10 years ago in Memphis, TN.
What made you decide to make your home your pet's forever home?
I had recently just lost my previous orange tabby, Raiford, to cancer. My best friend was sitting on her patio and saw a tiny orange kitten crawl under and jump up into the bottom of her neighbor’s car. She waited for hours for him to come out and to make sure no one started the car. She knew I had just lost my Raif, so she called and asked if I would take him in.
How did your pet get his/her name?
When my friend called to see if I wanted him, I was in Rome, Italy. Since I was in Rome when he was found, I decided to name him Roman, which quickly turned into Romey. Little did I know at the time that this name would be very fitting for him, as he is happiest when he is roaming.
Does your pet have any favorite toys, places to sleep, visit, etc?
Romey LOVES to be outside, but only in the warm weather. He loves to sunbathe just about anywhere, even when the heat index is high. His favorite place to sleep indoors is cuddling up next to his elderly, tripawed sister, Hazel, who begrudgingly tolerates him. Tell us something quirky or funny that your pet does: We really consider Romey more of a dog than a cat. He loves people and is extremely friendly. He is very talkative and enjoys attention and affection. Belly rubs are his favorite. He enjoys greeting people on walks and leading or following them. He usually comes when called and likes to play chase around the house. He has a bedtime and does not like to go to bed at night anywhere other than his room. If we are off schedule, he lets us know.
How has having your pet made your life better?
Romey is the best. He is loving, sweet, funny, full of personality, and a valued member of our family. He is also very tolerant of our two small children.
Is there anything else you want to tell the neighbors about your pet?
If you’ve met Romey, you know he’s one of a kind. We appreciate all of those neighbors who are so kind to him and stop by to say hello. He absolutely loves you all.
