Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area? Tell us about your family.Β
I grew up on Long Island and have spent most of my life here. Family has always been at the center of everything I do, and much of who I am today was shaped by the incredible people I was fortunate enough to learn from.

Real estate is truly a family tradition for me. My mother, Elaine Calinoff, was a Realtor for more than 30 years and my business partner for many of those years. Together, we helped hundreds of families buy and sell homes across Long Island. She taught me the importance of kindness, integrity, and always putting people first. Although she has passed, those values continue to guide my business every day.

My brother, Michael, has had a fascinating career. He spent many years in NASCAR as a spotter for championship-winning teams, working alongside some of the biggest names in racing. Today, he is a highly sought-after dog trainer in North Carolina and has trained dogs for many professional drivers and racing families. Despite living out of state, he has generously helped many of my friends here on Long Island through virtual training sessions, sharing his expertise and passion for helping both dogs and their owners succeed.

My father, Lenny Calinoff, owned an automotive store in Smithtown for many years. After selling the business, he transitioned into automotive sales and went on to become Salesman of the Year at 75 years old. He believed that age should never limit your goals and that hard work, persistence, and treating people well will always lead to success.

Looking back, I realize that much of my creativity, marketing style, and willingness to think outside the box came from my family. Whether it was my father's entrepreneurial spirit, my mother's people-first approach, or my brother's ability to connect, teach, and innovate, they all showed me that success comes from building relationships, serving others, and never being afraid to do things differently.

Those lessons have helped shape my 40-year real estate career and continue to inspire the way I serve my clients and community today.

Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now (education, career path).
I entered real estate at the age of 18, but my path to the industry was a little different than most. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from C.W. Post and spent several years working in the creative field. During that time, I developed a passion for marketing, design, and finding unique ways to connect with people.

My mother, Elaine Calinoff, encouraged me to join her in real estate and become her partner. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. What began as an opportunity to work alongside my mom quickly became a lifelong passion and a career that has now spanned more than 40 years.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping first-time buyers, growing families, downsizers, seniors, and people relocating both locally and across the country. Working alongside my mother taught me that real estate is not just about housesβ€”it is about people, relationships, and helping clients navigate some of life's biggest transitions.

While I may have left the art world, I never left behind my creativity. My background in graphic design and marketing continues to play a major role in my business today. I love creating innovative marketing campaigns, thinking outside the box, and generating excitement around my clients' homes. Combining creativity with decades of real estate experience has allowed me to help my clients stand out in a competitive market and achieve the best possible results.

What is your business and how/why did you start your business?
I am a full-time Realtor with Signature Premier Properties, specializing in residential real estate throughout Long Island. I started in the business because of my mother's influence and quickly fell in love with helping people achieve their goals. Four decades later, I still get excited when I hand over the keys to a first-time buyer or help a family successfully sell a home they have loved for many years.

What is unique about your business (what sets you apart from the rest)?
What sets me apart is my commitment to relationships and service. I believe in being available, honest, and supportive throughout the entire process. Many of my clients become lifelong friends and continue referring their family and friends years later.

I also have a nationwide referral network called Calinoff Connections, allowing me to connect clients with trusted agents anywhere in the country. Whether someone is moving across town or across the United States, I can help make the transition smoother.

I consider myself a strong negotiator and businesswoman who always advocates fiercely for my clients' best interests. At the same time, I believe a little humor goes a long way. Buying or selling a home can be stressful, and in today's world, finding reasons to laugh is more important than ever. One of my personal mottos is to bring professionalism, results, and plenty of laughs along the way.

After 40 years in the business, I bring experience, strong negotiation skills, creative marketing strategies, and a deep understanding of the local market. Most importantly, I genuinely care about the people I serve. At 60 years old and with four decades in real estate, I sometimes joke that my goal is to become the oldest Realtor with the most years in the business. I've already told everyone I have another 40 years ahead of meβ€”which would make me 100 years old. Why not? I love what I do, and I fully intend to stay relevant right up to the very end. Besides, by then I should finally have enough experience to call myself a veteran.

Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice can you offer residents?
Whether you're thinking about moving next month or five years from now, start planning early. Small improvements and proper preparation can make a significant difference in the value of your home. If you're considering buying, don't assume homeownership is out of reach. There are often programs and opportunities available that many people don't know about.
Most importantly, ask questions and work with professionals you trust. Real estate decisions are too important to navigate alone.

I also believe it's important to choose a real estate professional you genuinely connect with. Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions you'll make, and you should feel comfortable with the person guiding you through the process. Find someone who truly loves what they do because that passion shines through in the way they communicate, negotiate, problem-solve, and care for their clients. When you have that connection and trust, the entire experience becomes more enjoyable and successful.
