Syntero Celebrates 50 Years Supporting Community Mental Health

Syntero offers a range of services for older adults and their caregivers and houses the Forever Dublin Hub, a resource center for older adults and caregivers at their Dublin office.

As winter loosens its grip and the first signs of spring return to Dublin, there is a natural desire to step outside, reconnect, and re-engage with our community. After months of shorter days, colder weather, and quieter routines, even small moments of connection, like a conversation with a neighbor, a walk in the sunshine, or attending a farmers market, can have a powerful impact on emotional well-being. Research consistently shows that connection is one of the strongest protective factors for mental health, helping reduce stress, ease anxiety, and strengthen resilience.

For 50 years, Syntero has worked to foster connection and belonging across Dublin and Central Ohio. What began as a vision to ensure neighbors could access compassionate support close to home has grown into a network of services that reminds people they are not alone no matter the season.

For Dublin, Syntero has been a trusted source of support for those struggling with mental health and addiction-related challenges. In addition to outpatient counseling, case management and group therapy for adults, children and families, Syntero collaborates with area organizations and partners to promote community mental wellbeing.

The 501(c)3 nonprofit organization provides school-based prevention programs for Dublin City Schools, partners with Dublin Police & Washington Township Fire department to support residents with mental health needs, supports Delaware and Morrow County first responders by offering counseling and support, and organizes summer groups for Franklin County youth. Through a partnership with Dublin ACT, a community-based coalition, Syntero works to reduce substance abuse in Dublin children and adolescents.

Syntero also offers a range of services for older adults and their caregivers and houses the Forever Dublin Hub, a resource center for older adults and caregivers at their Dublin office. The Older Adult Intensive Outreach program facilitates access to a range of human services including housing, food assistance, legal aid, transportation, healthcare and other resources to help people age in place.

Part of Syntero’s mission is to educate the community and eliminate the stigma of seeking mental health support. In pursuit of that goal, the organization provides free workshops throughout the year. Many of these presentations are in-person and ongoing. Past workshops are also available online at syntero.org

Syntero offers these valuable services thanks in part to community assistance. “Syntero’s greatest need is financial support to ensure that every person—regardless of age, background, insurance status, or ability to pay—can access high-quality mental and behavioral health services,” says Kelly Galindo, Chief Public Information and Development Officer. “With potential cuts to Medicaid and other government funding sources, community support is more critical than ever,” she adds.

One way to support Syntero is to attend its 35th annual Catalyst for Positive Change Awards breakfast on April 17 at the Brookshire Event Venue in Delaware.. “This event recognizes outstanding high school students and one outstanding inspirational adult who are creating positive change in their schools and communities,” Galindo says. “In addition to honoring these amazing young people, this event also provides a perfect opportunity to celebrate our 50th year of serving Central Ohio and helps raise critical funds to support our services.” Nearly 30 area high schools participate in the awards program. The 2026 Catalyst Inspiration Award will be presented to Linda Logan, CEO & President of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission whose leadership and dedication have turned the Columbus area into a major sports hub, while breaking down barriers for women in a male-dominated industry.  For ticket and sponsorship information, visit syntero.org/catalyst-awards.

Don’t let a substance abuse or mental health crisis steal your joy. If you or someone you love is struggling with these very real challenges, there is a trusted partner right in the neighborhood who is ready to help whenever and wherever they are needed. That’s something to celebrate.
