Dublin Women's Philanthropic Club

The DWPC hosts an annual Gala to raise funds to support the community in many ways.

If there’s anyone who understands the strength of a community that comes together, it’s the Dublin Women’s Philanthropic Club (DWPC). Founded upon and driven by the mission of civic betterment through social, charitable, educational, and community outreach, the organization achieves their goals through service and lasting friendship.

Sharon Zimmers once served as the President and is presently co-chair of membership with DWPC.  She originally moved to Dublin in 2001 to become the first female superintendent, which led her to discover DWPC and another way she could serve her neighbors. She immediately joined the organization to aid in shedding light on those in the community who need assistance, especially knowing that many only see the more fortunate members.

Launched in 1978, DWPC was started by a group of women formerly associated with the Dublin Young Women’s Christian Association. Since then, the organization has grown in number and reach. Throughout their history, they’ve donated over $350,000 in charitable contributions and have supported other local organizations such as Dress For Success, Welcome Warehouse, The Dublin Food Pantry, Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption, KidSMILES Pediatric Dental Clinic, I Support the Girls, Adaptive Sports Connection, No Kid Fights Cancer Alone, and the Dublin Library.

DWPC also hosts many different fundraisers to help fund scholarships for graduating high school seniors and adult women who are continuing their education. In 2015, they established their annual Snowflake Gala that is held each year on March 1st, with this year’s theme being “Masquerade Ball.” DWPC also has a longstanding history of supporting the annual Dublin Irish Festival by volunteering at beer stations. In addition to her role as President and co-chair of membership, Sharon also chairs the DWPC volunteers for the festival. The funds raised from both these events, as well as many others, serve to support the Dublin community and beyond.

DWPC has accomplished much throughout its existence, but they’re not done yet. As the Dublin community continues to grow and flourish, so too does the mission of DWPC. They are always looking for new faces to join their team and expand their reach and impact. To learn more, visit dublinwomensclub.org.
