Amid the energy and excitement in the bustling halls of Dublin Jerome High School, one event shines above the rest— a tradition that honors students not only for their achievements, but also for the remarkable journeys behind them. This is the Celebration of Excellence.

The Celebration of Excellence is a heartfelt tradition unique to Dublin City Schools. It has deep historical roots, dating back to 1981 when Dublin only had one high school. This tradition acknowledges and celebrates Dublin students for their diverse achievements and character that embodies the Dublin City Schools’ values and mission, “Take Responsibility, Always Growing, Better Together.” This culture, reinforced by the Celebration of Excellence, promotes the district's belief that all students can reach their potential with effort, respect, and a positive attitude.

This esteemed event is an awards ceremony where recipients are selected by teachers in recognition of a student’s often-unseen efforts and dedication. Teachers have the opportunity to recognize students who possibly overcame a particular challenge or grew academically throughout the year, demonstrating the personal growth that occurs during high school. Additionally, the award celebrates students who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to service, leadership, and excellence in various forms. These students have positively impacted their peers, school, and community, embodying the core values of our educational institution.

Each Spring, students from all three high schools are recognized for their excellence for four core characteristics: character, leadership, scholarship, and service. The Celebration of Excellence is more than an awards ceremony; it's a testament to the power of perseverance, character, and community that propel students during high school and beyond. It shines a spotlight on the extraordinary journeys of Dublin students, reminding us of the potential within each student to grow, lead, and inspire others. As the honorees of this year’s event take pride in their well-deserved acknowledgement that may have otherwise been unrecognized, they also carry forward a legacy of excellence that uplifts their academic environment and enriches the school’s enduring tradition.
