Dublin Schools Prepares for High School Redistricting

Current High School Boundaries

Dublin has long been one of the fastest-growing communities in Ohio, part of the broader “Boomtown” momentum sweeping across Central Ohio. That growth has brought new families, thriving neighborhoods, and an increasingly diverse student population. It has also created a challenge for Dublin City Schools: balancing enrollment across its three high schools.

Jerome High School has experienced rapid enrollment increases, stretching the building to capacity, while Coffman and Scioto remain at and under capacity, respectively. The imbalance highlights the need for a districtwide solution. District leaders say redistricting is necessary to address three key factors: Jerome’s growth, the uneven distribution of students across the district, and the need for cost-effective operations that maximize taxpayer investment.

When Dublin voters approved a levy and bond issue in November 2023, it passed by a narrow margin. Many in the community expressed concerns about tax fatigue. Through additional focus groups and community conversations, district leaders heard a clear message: rather than adding a fourth high school, the district should make the best use of its current buildings. That means balancing enrollment across Coffman, Jerome, and Scioto so that each high school serves a more equal number of students.

To guide this process, Dublin City Schools has created a Redistricting Hub at www.dublinschools.net/redistricting-information. Residents can explore draft maps, learn about the process, and provide feedback through a community survey open until October 12. The district will use that input as it finalizes new attendance boundaries, set to be published on November 10. Letters will also be mailed to impacted homes in January.

For many homeowners, these maps will determine which high school their home is assigned to beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. District officials stress the importance of participating now so that residents are informed and prepared for the transition ahead.

While change can be challenging, leaders emphasize that all three Dublin high schools consistently rank among the top in Ohio, offering rigorous academics, robust extracurriculars, and strong traditions. Students, they note, are resilient and adapt quickly, often thriving in new settings with new opportunities. “No matter which building students attend, they will continue to have access to the same high-quality education that defines Dublin City Schools,” said Superintendent Dr. John Marschhausen.
