Houser Family Loves Calling Muirfield Home

Tyler and Elaine Houser know a lot about real estate. After all, it’s their business. Tyler is a mortgage advisor for the family business, Houser Mortgage. The couple also owns rental properties that operate under the name Houser Homes.

In addition to being what they do, real estate is also what they’ve done, having lived in the housing market hotbeds of German Village and then Galena for the past three years. The Housers settled on Muirfield’s Crail Court in December. They’ll probably be sticking around for a while.

The couple met at the beginning of their college careers in 2008 at Columbus State Community College. One day Elaine sat next to Tyler in the computer lab at the library. They struck up a conversation, became friends, then started dating a few months later. Both continued on to graduate school at The Ohio State University.

“Dublin has always felt like home to us,” says Tyler. “We spent more time at Bridge Park than anywhere else, and we joke that’s why we moved to Dublin from Galena,” he adds. “We are growing our community and looking for more ways to support it.”

One way they get involved is through their family activities. Six-year-old Chloe is a budding gymnast and talented ballet dancer. Chloe’s in-home ballet instructor is her mom, who was a ballet dancer her entire life. Chloe also wants to be a cheerleader one day. Miles, age 3, attends Dublin Community Preschool. “We joke that he is an advanced scooter rider,” says Tyler. The family attends Fresh Life Church, where Elaine is part of the worship team and Tyler manages the coffee ministry.

The family also enjoys the restaurants in old Dublin. The self-described ‘foodies’ come by that honestly. Tyler worked at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse in college. Elaine is from Jakarta, Indonesia, by way of New Jersey. Indonesian cooking is very popular in their household, as is food in general. “Food is at the heart of everything we do, whether it's cooking at home or trying out restaurants all around the world,” says Tyler.

The Housers recently completed a three-week trip to Indonesia, which was their kids’ first visit. They have also traveled to Italy, Greece, India and Turkey. Domestically, they enjoy visits to Miami and taking shorter trips to explore neighboring Michigan.

Around the neighborhood, the Housers appreciate Muirfield’s architecture and are looking forward to enjoying the trails and pools. “Don’t be afraid to get out there and introduce yourself,” they say. “We have felt so welcomed by everyone we’ve met so far.” Sounds like Muirfield will be the perfect place for the Housers to call home.
