With the joy of spring, warmth, flowers, song birds, comes the desire to enjoy a light aromatic wine. The Lake Hickory Wine Society (LHWS), a national American Wine Society chapter, enjoyed a food and wine pairing featuring all-day Rosé. Making this tasting exceptional, Duke's Restaurant and Wine Bar (Market on Main) offered gourmet food pairings, which were decadent and exceptional service. We so enjoyed the beautiful weather and the upstairs outside patio!
Much Thanks to Laure Levesque – President & Chief Tasting Officer, Queen of Wines, LLC, Brittanie Wallace – Queen of Wines, LLC, and Jeremy Debrez from Domaine Tropez (Provence) for bringing these lovely Rosé Wines to us. They now have a logistics distributorship in Charlotte.
Jeremy, a Grandson of the Domaine Tropez owners, offered the educational program. Even though Rosé is produced in various areas of France and other countries, Provence produces 75% of the world's best Rosé. After much testing, Domaine Tropez lead the way in France for the use of screw caps finding that it does not negatively affect the wines and provides often better quality over corks.
The LHWS began with a meet & greet wine from Domaine Allies Languedoc Roussillon, followed by Conquilles Saint Jacques (sea scallops with mushroom and herbs) served with Domaine Sick-Dreyer Cremant Brut Rose Alsace. Next, a Salad Nicoise (Haricots verts, tomatoes, fingerlings, eggs, 2 huge grilled tuna, olives, oil & and vinaigrette) served with Domaine Tropez Crazy Tropez Provence. Then we experienced Coq au Vin (Chicken, Rosé sauce and polenta cake) with Domaine Tropez Tropez White Provence. Are you full yet? We could not resist dessert! Creme Burlee Cheese Cake (best ever) served with Les Ligeriens Ros d'Anjou Loire.
