Onyx

Ismo and I got our rescue pup, Onyx, from Caldwell Animal Control in August of last year. She had been an owner surrender with a litter of puppies (we never saw the puppies). We kept the name that she was given.
Our previous rescue dog, Katie, was a black German shepherd. Onyx looks so much like Katie, but is almost half her size, so we decided to use Embark to find out her genetic makeup. The 74 percent German Shepherd was not a surprise. The 14 percent Border Collie makes sense ... She is often right on our heels, herding us.
She is such a sweet girl. She loves to carry sticks, cuddle, and get belly rubs. Onyx has lots of energy! She likes to play hide-and-seek with her toys.
She helped with the hurricane clean-up, and we called her our “Branch Manager” because she was in charge of the fallen tree branches!
She is super spoiled and gets multiple walks a day (when possible) and lots of treats! On our walks, she is very friendly and loves getting attention from people, though we are training her not to jump. She is friendly with other friendly dogs.
