Mahong in Moore's Ferry

Mahjong is a tile-based game that is sweeping the country. Initially developed in China in the 19th century, it spread through the Far East, and has made its way throughout the world, including Moore's Ferry! Neighbors gather monthly to enjoy fellowship and games of Mahjong. Cathie Lane tells us more!

The third Wednesday of each month (excluding December) is a play date at the Moore's Ferry Clubhouse featuring Mahjong.  Two time slots available: 1 p.m. or 6 p.m. or both if you wish!  No RSVP is required - show up!  If you have a Mahjong set, please bring it.  We set up tables of 4 and play American Mahjong. Tables consist of knowledgeable and beginner players.  You're welcome to observe and then sub in as you feel comfortable with the play.  It takes about 15 minutes to set up, so play begins at 1:15 or 6:15, with the groups typically playing 2 or 3 rounds.  For now, each table can decide if they wish to play quick (dirty) mahjong using the blank tiles as wild cards. It's a game of luck and strategy.  It is renowned for improving and maintaining a good memory - makes you think!
