Catching Up with the Hampton Family

It’s been over two years since we were introduced to Andrew and Grey Hampton.  Now, happily married for three years, their journey together continues to grow richer in love and purpose.

Last year, the Hamptons traveled to Jamaica and Panama—including Panama City and its surrounding mountains, jungles, and beaches—spending several weeks abroad on three different occasions.

Andrew is now celebrating 11 years with RESTOR, a company specializing in
both commercial roofing and exteriors, as well as high end and custom
residential projects.  Among their recent accomplishments is the tile roof
replacement of the historic First Baptist Church at College Avenue and 86th Street.

Outside of his job, Andrew continues to work with young kids, adolescents,
and adults with improved physical fitness and sports performance.  He offers  personal training independently in clients’ homes or at local gyms, and
dedicates a few morning hours each week to clients at Crunch Fitness on
Keystone Avenue.  Devoted to the gym himself, Andrew is committed to his
own health, strength, and well-being.  In his free time, he enjoys basketball—
and recently picked up pickleball.

With a master’s degree in Building Information Modeling (BIM)—a disciplinary study designed for civil engineers, architects, and technicians in
the construction sector—Grey put her professional pursuits on hold for a
while, for an even more important role—motherhood!

The couple received the joyful news that they were expecting in November
2024.  After a previous loss, Grey became concerned about her pregnancy in
late December and visited the ER.  Their concerns were put to rest, and they
received the incredible surprise that they were expecting not one, but TWO
babies!  Even more special, they discovered this news on Andrew’s
birthday—an unforgettable gift!
To ensure a safe pregnancy, the doctors placed Grey on strict home rest until week 12.  She followed this advice diligently, with 12 weeks filled with worry, nerves, anxiety, and hope.  Thankfully, the rest of the pregnancy progressed smoothly—until an early surprise arrived.
Though Grey’s C-section was originally scheduled for week 38, her water broke unexpectedly at home at 4:00 a.m., at week 36.  On July 16th, after an emergency C-section, Charlotte (Charlee) Militza Hampton was born at 6.5 pounds and 19.5 inches at 6:38 a.m., followed just three minutes later by Clementine Elizabeth Hampton, weighing 5.4 pounds and measuring 19 inches!
Grey experienced a significant blood loss during the delivery, with her hemoglobin dropping to six.  The fraternal twins were admitted to the NICU for 24 days, learning to feed by mouth.  Grey shares, “Those were long, hard, and exhausting days, but thanks to God, everyone is healthy—and we are adapting to our new life together.”
Going from no children to two is a transformation that cannot be measured in numbers, but in the dimensions of the soul. Two heartbeats, two gazes, two little lives that arrive to inhabit a space that once seemed complete, but now overflows with meaning.  Raising twins is a whirlwind of chaos and beauty.  It is exhaustion, but also an overflowing of love.  It is the certainty that life, when multiplied, becomes even more surprising and full.  It feels as though the house suddenly expands, that every silence is filled with melodies, with cries, and that the hours no longer belong to the clock, but to the double heartbeats setting the rhythm of each day.”
With feeding, we are balancing bottles, formula, and breast milk. Producing enough milk for two babies is challenging.  However, in the midst of that, there is also a new inner strength being born: the understanding that motherhood is not perfection, but presence.  That even if my milk seems low, love is always abundant.  And that raising twins is not about giving exactly enough, but about multiplying care and trusting that every touch, every gaze, every attempt, also nourishes.”
Sleep has also been difficult.  Charlotte, in particular, struggles to rest at night—she only wants her mother’s arms and caresses.  Right now I’m fully dedicated to my babies and my main passion is navigating motherhood and becoming the best version of myself for my babies.”

Before the birth of their daughters, the only pitter patter in the Hampton home came from their loyal bloodhound, Canela.  She has adapted beautifully to her new role—protective, and visibly concerned when one of the babies cries.”
Grey adds, “There is now a greater sense of purpose and love guiding us.  We are deeply grateful for the support of Andrew’s mom, who lovingly comes three nights a week to help us on this journey.  It truly takes a village, and we are learning to embrace that with open hearts”

She concludes with heartfelt gratitude, “We are so thankful for the expressions of affection, kind words, and the support we have received from our neighbors. It has meant the world to us—thank you so much.”
