CRD Design Build : Turning Houses into Homes for Over 45 Years

For Seattle homeowners, remodeling a home can be both exciting and overwhelming. From envisioning new layouts to managing budgets and timelines, the process often comes with uncertainty. That’s where CRD Design Build stands apart.

CRD Design Build Team

With a thoughtful, client-focused approach and more than four decades of experience, the team helps homeowners navigate every step with clarity and confidence.
Founded in 1980 by Denny Conner, CRD has spent 45 years shaping homes across the Seattle metro area. In 2022, the company transitioned to new ownership under Teri and Michael McDermott. Having served as CRD’s operations manager for over a decade, Teri brought deep knowledge of both the business and the client experience into her leadership role. Following Michael’s passing in 2024, she continues to lead the company with strength and vision, supported by a team of 23 dedicated professionals.
CRD specializes in residential design and remodeling projects of all sizes, from kitchens and bathrooms to whole-home renovations, basement ADUs, backyard cottages, and custom garages. Each project begins with understanding how a family lives in their space. The result is a home that not only looks beautiful, but functions seamlessly for everyday life.
The company’s commitment to excellence is reflected in the recognition it has received over the years. CRD has earned multiple Remodeling Excellence Awards from the Master Builders Association, along with honors from Best of Houzz, Built Green, and GuildQuality. In 2025, the team received a Regional Chrysalis Award for kitchen remodeling, highlighting their ability to combine thoughtful design with practical living solutions.
At the core of CRD’s success is its integrated design-build process, which brings design, planning, and construction together under one roof. This streamlined approach creates a more efficient and transparent experience for homeowners. Clients benefit from fixed pricing, a clearly defined plan, dedicated project coordination, and a two-year warranty. Just as important, they gain a team that prioritizes communication and trust.
“Remodeling your home is an investment of time and money,” says Leslie Eiler, Client Services Manager. “We take the time to educate our clients, so they understand the process and feel confident in their decisions. The best projects start with thoughtful planning, and we’re here to guide them every step of the way.”
CRD’s values extend beyond the homes they build. Teri McDermott is actively involved in the local building community, serving as Chair of the 2026 Master Builder’s Association Remodeler’s Council. Through mentorship, education, and service, she helps strengthen the industry while staying closely connected to the community CRD serves.
That sense of connection is also deeply personal. The McDermott family remains closely tied to the business, with Teri’s daughter, Kennadie, serving as Operations and Marketing Manager. This year brought an especially joyful milestone as Kennadie welcomed twin boys, in February, adding a new generation to the family and reinforcing the importance of home, comfort, and togetherness; values that are reflected in every CRD project.
Homeowners across Seattle consistently praise CRD for their clear communication, creative solutions, and attention to detail. Many clients note that the experience feels less like working with a contractor and more like partnering with a trusted guide. The result is not just a beautifully remodeled home, but a smoother, more positive journey from start to finish.
Choosing CRD Design Build means choosing a team that values craftsmanship, transparency, and relationships. With decades of experience, award-winning design, and a genuine commitment to the people they serve, CRD continues to help Seattle families create spaces where life happens.
