Becks the Boxer: Beauty, Brawn, and a Splash of Sass
Please introduce yourself, Becks. Gladly. I’m big. I’m tall. I’m black. I’m beautiful. Any more questions? Yes? Okay, great – glad to go on. I’m confident, dignified, affectionate and a sassy 5 year old female. The only undignified thing about me is that I was named after a fish!
What is the story behind your breed? Although mainly boxer, I am mixed, most likely, with a labrador. We boxers are famously great at almost everything. Whether hunting, guiding the blind, serving in World Wars, corralling cattle, or watching over our adopted family – we do it all. Oh, and we’re great dancers too. Having perfected the ‘kidney bean’ dance, we can make our back side come half-way round towards our face – wiggling our way through ‘til the end of every song.
Favorite Activities? I love to eat my 3 meals-a-day, all at once. Then I can have another 3 meals-a-day later on. I must maintain all my strength so I can keep up with George, the toddler, and Ocho, the black cat. Sometimes the baby throws food down for me. Score. Other times we play ball, or get in his baby pool together. Basically, he’s my best friend. I’m kinda proud of the fact that the baby’s first words after ‘Mama’ and ‘Dada’ were ‘Becks’- pronounced ‘Bexth.”

What else should we know about you Becks, and how have you enriched your home/family? The first Becks - the aforementioned fish – was Alan’s childhood pet. He named him after David Beckham – thus, Becks. Now I am to be the legacy of a fish??!! I could beat both the soccer-god and Becks #1 hands down in a man-on-fish-on-dog race any day of the week! I do however appreciate the celebrity association. My other fame-adjacent moment was when the Boarding Service put a Casey Musgraves T-shirt on me the whole week of my stay with them. This provided much amusement for Regan & Alan on Zoom calls. I’m working on getting a Becks Rules T-shirt for Taylor Swift; this will certainly clinch my rise to stardom. I gotta get back to protecting the Kearns now; thanks for listening to my story!
