A Perfect Match

From an unforgettable first date to a shared coastal life on Lido Isle, Anika Wilson and Ryan Coolidge are building a beautiful life together.

On a chilly February day (Valentine’s Day, to be exact), Anika Wilson and Ryan Coolidge carried the last of their moving boxes into their home on Lido Isle, marking the beginning of a new chapter that, in many ways, had already been unfolding at full speed. Their story, like many modern romances, began with a swipe—specifically on Hinge—but what followed was anything but ordinary.

They met on July 25, 2023, and from the very first evening, something clicked. Their first date at Buddha’s Favorite stretched on long past what either of them expected. In fact, they were the last couple left in the restaurant that night, still deep in conversation because they enjoyed each other’s company and simply couldn’t stop talking. It’s a detail they laugh about now, a small but telling sign of what was to come. Since then, they’ve been inseparable, building a life together that feels both effortless and deeply intentional. Now engaged, they’re eagerly looking ahead to their wedding and all the milestones that will follow.

Anika, originally from Santa Barbara, and Ryan, a native of Chicago, bring together two distinct backgrounds that somehow blend seamlessly. Both were collegiate athletes—Anika played beach volleyball at Pepperdine University, while Ryan played football at Case Western Reserve University. That shared discipline and drive still show up in their everyday lives, whether it’s in their careers, hobbies, or the way they approach their relationship.

Professionally, they’re equally aligned in ambition and purpose. Anika works as a wealth advisor at Spinnaker Investment Group, where she’s carved out a meaningful niche. She recently launched a division called Women & Wealth, focused on empowering women to take control of their financial futures. The initiative reflects both her expertise and her passion for helping others build lasting security. Ryan, meanwhile, is an investment banker at DA Davidson, where he thrives on working closely with founders during pivotal moments in their journeys. For him, it’s about more than numbers; it’s about guiding people through some of the most significant decisions of their lives.

Despite demanding careers, Anika and Ryan have mastered the art of balance. Their days often begin or end with walks around Lido, soaking in the coastal calm that first drew them to the island. Weekends might include Duffy boat rides through the harbor, spontaneous beach days just steps from their home, or a friendly (but fiercely competitive) game of backgammon with homemade margaritas in hand.

Their “perfect Sunday” captures the essence of their life together: a morning stroll to Bee’s Knees for breakfast, followed by Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and then a laid-back afternoon by the ocean. It’s simple, intentional, and full of the little rituals that make a place feel like home.

Adventure also plays a big role in their story, especially when winter rolls around. Every New Year’s, they head to Utah, where Ryan’s family has owned a ski home near Snowbasin Resort since he was five. An avid skier who has traveled the world and even gone heliskiing, Ryan has passed that passion on to Anika, who now embraces the slopes with equal enthusiasm. It’s a tradition that blends family, travel, and a shared love of the outdoors.

Back in Newport Beach, their interests are just as active. Pickleball matches, golf outings (Ryan’s personal favorite), and trying new restaurants keep their social calendar full. They’re also loyal fans of Ryan’s hometown teams, cheering on the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs whenever they can.

But beyond the fun and the routines, what truly defines Anika and Ryan is their commitment to giving back. Anika serves on the boards of several local nonprofits, including the Glass Slipper Guild, Community Legal Aid SoCal, and Project Youth OCBF. She’s also involved with the Newport Beach Foundation through its Distinguished Citizens Program. Together, they share a deep belief in supporting their community and creating opportunities for others.

For now, their family is just the two of them, though they often talk about adding a dog to the mix someday. Until then, they’re more than content building their life side by side, surrounded by supportive neighbors, bay views, and a rhythm that feels uniquely theirs.

Ask them what they’re most grateful for, and the answer comes easily: each other, their families, and the beautiful life they’ve created together in Newport Beach. It’s a story still being written—but already, it’s one worth telling.
