From Spotlight to Sold

Karen Kraft Brings a Performer’s Passion and a Pro’s Expertise to Lake Forest Real Estate

Karen Kraft is no stranger to the spotlight. Before becoming one of Lake Forest’s top real estate agents, Karen was lighting up stages as a professional singer, performing USO shows by the age of five and touring with her own band by twelve. Her early career included opening for legends like Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, and Mickey Gilley—and while her stage may have changed, the energy, confidence, and drive she developed in music have followed her every step of the way into real estate.
Karen moved to the area 40 years ago from Louisville’s South End, where she grew up fishing, boating, and holding her own among three brothers. Her transition into real estate began in 2008, encouraged by both her husband and her boss at the time. Despite launching her career during one of the toughest markets in history, she quickly rose to success, earning the title of National Rookie of the Year at Keller Williams.
Now, with Kraft Fine Homes brokered by EXP Realty, Karen specializes in luxury real estate—and she does it with a blend of grit, professionalism, and a down-to-earth style that clients love. She’s never been intimidated by high-powered clientele. “To me, it’s just more square footage,” she says with a smile. Her strong background in sales and marketing, coupled with her ability to relate to clients from all walks of life, gives her an edge that’s hard to match.
One thing that makes Karen’s service truly stand out is her approach to home prep and presentation. She offers free occupied staging, often bringing in her own items—including bedding—to make sure her clients' homes are market-ready. She knows what sells, what adds value, and how to help homeowners get the best return possible.
Karen’s advice for Lake Forest residents? “Work with someone who knows this neighborhood inside and out. This is a unique community, and it takes more than a license to sell a home here well—it takes local knowledge, experience, and honesty.”
Family is everything to Karen. She has two daughters—one a nurse and the other the successful owner of Declutter Lover—and three beautiful grandchildren. Her husband, a UPS captain, is a proud and supportive stepfather who’s been by her side through it all. Karen is incredibly grateful to the Lake Forest community for years of trust and referrals.

Thinking about selling—or just curious about how to get your home ready for the future? Karen says, “It costs nothing to ask. I’m always happy to offer advice, even if you’re a few years out from making a move.”
