The Optimist Junior Golf Championship is an International Tournament held at Trump National in Doral every year. There are local qualifiers around the US and other countries. The tournament is conducted in 3 Phases based on age over a 15-day period. The last Phase, for the 15-18 kids, attracts up to 30 College Golf coaches. Competitors from 26 countries were represented. 

Rhyan Marcelissen & Hayden Amy qualified at the New Orleans Qualifier held at Timberlane Golf Course in June by shooting an 86.  The Championship at Doral saw some very competitive golf at an excellent golf course.

It was a fun week and players were able to hang out at various events like the Long Drive Competition, Glow Ball night, the pool and slide, and at the arcade. Friends were made, good times were had while playing at a top International Tournament.
