A Life Changing Event

After 25 years away from recreational bike riding and a sedentary lifestyle, Jeff and Stacie Mittelman decided it was time to be exercising more now that they are in their 60s. They were getting a similar message from their doctor. Stacie’s sister and brother-in-law had purchased two Pedego bikes so, of course, they were interested in finding out more. At first, Jeff was very hesitant but eventually they decided to spend a weekend test riding a few brands to be able to make an informed decision. Honestly, Jeff was not optimistic or excited about this. Stacie, however, was so excited to get started! Again, they had not been on bikes for 25 years! It was hard to believe that they would start riding now – in their 60s!

So, in August off they went on their adventure to look at Electric bikes. Some bike shops had electric bikes, and some did not. Some bike shops allowed them to ‘test ride’, and some did not. They chatted at various shops about the ability to buy an electric bike online – the plusses and the minuses. They did their research and ended up at Pedego Gilbert. “Now we feel like we’re part of the family there!” The test ride included a 30-minute bike ride, after riding around a parking lot to learn the ins and outs of Electric riding (they are different than your typical bike). Jeff and Stacie were sold! So now, just two months later, they’ve already put over 400 miles on their bikes and average 15-mile rides.

We love riding thru Las Sendas and seeing our environment in a whole different way! We see so many people out walking and riding – and everyone has a nice “good morning” greeting or a wave."  These bikes have brought so much joy to our lives. We look forward to riding almost daily!  We ride with smiles the entire time!  Stacie recently had custom fenders put on her bike, and settled on a name for her bike that she had been trying to decide on – Ethel Merman! Ethel is very fitting because Stacie just wants to sing while she rides!  Jeff has now settled on the name Rodney Dangerfield for his bike.

They have now purchased a bike rack for their car and are planning a ‘tour Arizona trails’ vacation the first week of November (of course, they won’t see all of Arizona, but they will see more than they have in the four years since moving to Arizona). “We can hardly wait!”

Jeff and Stacie ask that if you know of any paved areas that would be fun to bike ride, give them a shout! “We’d love to ride with you!”

Please join their Facebook groups – Pedego Owners Group of Arizona or Ebikes / Electric Bikes – Las Sendas Neighbors and Friends – Mesa. “We would love to get a group ride together now that the weather is perfect for bike riding!”
