When my camera isn’t in hand, I am balancing life as a wife, dog mom, and mother of three amazing kids: Hunter, Dylan and Willow.

I have an associate’s degree in early childhood education and once owned my own daycare but photography has always been my passion. I’ve had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. I got my first photography job at 16, working at the Sears Portrait Studio. When they went out of business around 2010, I started doing photography on my own as a hobby and a second job.

By 2014, things were picking up. Then in 2016, after my daughter was born, I knew it was time to go all in. I wanted to build something that let me do what I love while also giving me the flexibility to be there for my kids. That is when Jo Marie Portraits truly took root.

I photograph portraits, weddings, and events, and I am also the proud photographer for the Stroll Landsdale neighborhood. I never just show up with a camera. My sessions are about creating a whole vibe. I love capturing people in their happiest and most authentic moments.

If you ask my clients what sets me apart, they will probably tell you it’s me. I am great with people, especially kids, and I keep things fun, laid back, and efficient. I am not the type of photographer you simply find on a random social media Marketplace. I work hard to make sure each session feels like more than just a photoshoot. It’s an experience.

The connection I build with my clients means so much to me. The reviews on my Facebook page and website warm my heart. Clients share how comfortable they feel, how I connect with their kids, and how I help them relax in front of the camera. That is what I love most. I do not just take pictures,  I help you create and preserve your memories.

I simply love, LOVE. I put my heart into creating galleries filled with memories and emotion. Every image is a piece of your story, and I take pride in making the experience personal, meaningful, and fun.

My home studio is located inside the national park in Harpers Ferry, which gives me a peaceful and inspiring place to work. I also offer indoor sessions when needed, and I am always on the lookout for new places to explore and new stories to tell.

Running a one-woman business is not without its challenges. I juggle a full schedule while keeping up with ever-changing technology. With so many new photographers entering the scene, staying ahead means continuing to learn and push myself creatively. I welcome that challenge because it makes me better for my clients.

Looking ahead, my goal is to keep improving in quality, organization, and creativity. I want to continue growing and capturing moments you and your family can cherish for a lifetime. I truly cannot imagine life without the privilege of seeing the world through the magic of a lens.
