I’m Lois Pruitt, and I’ve proudly owned The Frederick Basket Company since 2016. Founded in 1988, our store is nestled in the historic Everedy Square & Shab Row district of downtown Frederick, Maryland. This charming location, once home to the Everedy Company—where the Everedy Bottle Capper was invented—offers a shopping experience full of history and character.

Growing up on a small farm in Pennsylvania instilled in me the values of hard work and perseverance, which have guided me in leading this company through significant growth in sales, staff, and clients since I took over. We've even expanded into a new warehouse production facility. This success is largely due to our fantastic team; it’s truly the collective effort of dedicated individuals that has brought our business dream to life.

We specialize in creating one-of-a-kind gift boxes and baskets, featuring artisan pieces from local designers, with a special focus on Maryland-made items. From personal birthday gifts to large corporate orders, we offer a wide range of services that reflect our commitment to quality and community. One key element that sets us apart from larger gifting companies is our hand-delivered gifts, providing a personalized touch that’s hard to find elsewhere.

Having lived in Frederick for over 20 years, I feel deeply connected to the community that has supported us along the way. We are proud to be active members of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, the Women in Business Network, and the Frederick Downtown Partnership. Additionally, we are committed to giving back by supporting local organizations such as Blessings in a Backpack and the Rescue Mission of Frederick, working to strengthen the community we love.

As the holiday season approaches, we’re excited to unveil several new offerings at The Frederick Basket Company. Our storefront will be decked out with festive decor, and we’ll be hosting wine tastings, food samplings, s’mores by the firepit, and much more. This year, we’re introducing a build-a-gift station and gift-wrapping services, making it easier than ever to create the perfect personalized present.
