AGING at 77 DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A NIGHTMARE!

When two of my friends heard me complaining about aging, both of them admitted they had found Emily at Bella Grey Medical Spa. From their description, Emily appeared to be somewhat of an artist/magician in the world of aesthetics.  One friend, a man, had completely diminished terrible, childhood, acne scars with Emily’s treatments.  The other friend, a woman who was about to undergo this same treatment, was just like me, dreading looking in the mirror every morning.  I decided to wait to see her result before getting too excited… she had her treatment last spring, and you should see her now…her face is flawless!  She mentioned that Emily was offering a special on her DEKA fractional Co2 laser.   An amazingly low price of $999 instead of her regular fee of $2800 sounded good to me and I made the appointment for a free consultation.  Emily is more than an artist/magician…she spent thirteen years in school and has numerous, impressive certifications that include being a nurse practitioner.   Technology has evolved tremendously, and this newer procedure can be used for scars, stretch marks and almost anywhere where there is skin laxity.  Because it is much less invasive than a $6000 laser treatment where serious anesthesia and lengthy downtime is required, I signed on for the two treatments that are recommended.

My first treatment was in late June.  Close friends were wowed by my texts of daily progress photos and final outcome.  A little nervous, this very efficient process was made so easy with Emily’s 13 years of expertise.  After 45 minutes of topical numbing cream and another 20 minutes of the procedure, I was given clear instructions, Emily’s personal phone number and then drove myself home.  I took two Tylenol, poured an iced tea and as effects of the numbing cream faded, my face felt a little stingy and hot.  I used the portable, three-speed fan (pink btw) that came with my post-op instructions and after about an hour, never had any other discomfort.  As my skin responded to the laser and prepared for peeling, there was redness, some swelling and a sensation of tightness…but really no pain.  I stayed quiet and prepared to wait 5 to 7 days for this process, but my healing time was quite rapid.  On day 4, I put on sunscreen, walked the dog and went grocery shopping. Two and done…sensible when we take the dents out of our car fenders!
