The Nevada Storm Team

A melting pot of courageous and athletic women with a passion to play to win - and with a wide variety of backgrounds.

Audrey P:

Sports have always played a critical role in my life. Before I even started kindergarten, I played basketball, soccer and softball. What made it better was my father coached most of my teams. My mom and dad always pushed me to do my best, but mainly to have fun though! My favorite part about sports was the competitive spirit. Getting out on the field, working as a team, getting beat and then coming back stronger! It fueled a fire in me!

When I reached high school, there was an opportunity for me to play football. It was an all-boys team, but I made it! The scariest leap I had ever taken, everyone was bigger than me, had been playing for years and I didn’t know anything. That only pushed me to get stronger, learn and keep up with the boys. Although my favorite sport was Track & Field, having went to state my freshman year for the 4x100 and then Sophomore year for Shot Put. Now that I'm out of high school, being with the storm has brought back that passion!

I’ve been proudly playing for the Storm as both an offensive and defensive lineman for the past 14 years. For the last 9 years, I’ve also had the honor of serving as the team’s President.

One of the highlights of my journey has been being part of the team during our back-to-back National Championship wins. Through this incredible organization, I’ve had the chance to meet amazing people and build lasting friendships that go far beyond the field.

Elena Sanchez:

I'm a proud mom of three and a member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. I spent years working as a high school special education teacher, a role that taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of showing up for others. I hold a Bachelor of Arts from WGU and an Associate of Science from TMCC—education has always been important to me, both personally and professionally.

Life has taken me on quite a journey. I used to play roller derby (yes, really!), but it wasn’t until I found football that I truly began to reconnect with myself. I discovered the sport at a time when I felt pretty low, unsure of my direction. Football gave me more than just physical strength—it helped me rebuild my confidence and tap into emotional strength I didn’t realize I had. These days, I’m all about balance: raising my kids, staying active, and continuing to grow in new ways. Whether it’s on the field, at home, or in my community, I try to bring authenticity, grit, and heart to everything I do.

This is my first season playing football and my first season with the Storm. I am an offensive and defensive tackle. Playing for the Storm has truly been a transformational experience. I was an athlete as a child, teenager, and young adult (track, soccer, cross country, dance, volleyball, marathon runner). I am grateful to have found athleticism again later in life as it’s one of the ways I feel most alive.

I am a mother to a 16-year-old son who also thrives with movement–whether martial arts, dance, track, or football. I hold a master’s degree in behavior analysis in education and work as the senior manager of an early literacy program I created with United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra. I am originally from Seattle, Washington and have lived in Reno for the past 12 years.

I have been a multi-athlete since the age of 6. From being an undefeated martial arts competitor to basketball, soccer, softball, flag football and now tackle football. Being an athlete kept me from falling into the environments I had to grow up in. As I was constantly moved, joining teams was how I met a lot of the people who have changed my life in different ways. The competition and drive of being a better me after every game, practice, play, and workout is why I continue to play as an adult and use that determination in my everyday life.

I’m a Dispatcher and Field Training Security Officer for The Row when I’m not on the field. I started this path after a friend working Security in the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting saved 7 lives before losing his. I spend every day trying to make an impact small or big in his honor.

Jay:

I am a proud local mom of two and lifelong athlete. I found my passion for football in 2022, after years of competing in sports. I graduated from McQueen High School where I played four years of basketball and three years of track and field, earning a basketball scholarship to Arizona Christian University my senior year. In 2022, I joined the Nevada Storm, kicking off my football journey with a team that quickly became more than just a sport—it became a second family.

In 2023, just six months after giving birth to my daughter, I earned 2-Team All-American honors, proving that motherhood and elite performance can go hand in hand. I welcomed my son in March 2025 and now return to the field with even more fire. Football has not only tested my mental toughness and grit but has also become a powerful outlet for my mental and physical health. When I’m not on the field, I serve as an Area Manager for Apex Leadership Co., where I help inspire kids with impactful fundraising, and promote fitness!

Jessi Schnitzius:

I am a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner/Certified Nurse Midwife at Renown. I have been working in health care for 20 years. I am a mother of two boys, ages 16 and 10.

Moira Nemedez:

I’m a dedicated Early Education Senior Manager with a deep passion for early childhood education and creating meaningful, lasting change. Helping others is at the heart of everything I do, and I’m always looking for ways to grow, especially when it scares me. Recently, I stepped way outside my comfort zone and joined a full-contact football team. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it’s also awakened a strength in me I didn’t know I had. Being part of a team of passionate, supportive women has been nothing short of life changing. On and off the field, I’m learning, leveling up, and staying committed to making a difference.

I had the great opportunity to play for Nevada Storm this year and last year, here I am a Defensive Back, but I have been an RB receiver on previous teams. I started playing the bikini version of football in Cozumel, with Nereidas! Winning awards for best running back, receiver and defensive end and a championship! After Covid, I started playing full pads, I participated in the Mexican Nationals, champion 2023 and sub-pampas 2024, and champion with Navy Seals in November 2024. I was chosen to play in Spain 2022. I have represented Mexico in tournaments and was a National preselection for the World Cup in Finland. Disciplined, persevering, with heart and grit, I am very happy to play for Nevada Storm where they have received me with great affection and where I have learned too much! Football teaches you many lessons, as you to get up if you fall and to fight until the end. It gives you family who, even if they are from different places, will always be with you.

Big congratulations to our players who were selected for the All American Team!
The Nevada Storm plays for each other - the success of these women reflects the success of our organization - and we could not be prouder of them. We cheered them on as they represent the Storm and our city of Reno at the WFA National Championship Weekend at the end of July at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, Canton, Ohio.
