Koda

Making an Entrance

“Koda joined our family as a surprise Christmas gift from my parents,” says Amber Adams. “Koda loves to make an entrance when walking into stores and businesses, and will give a loud, bird-like coo/holler as a greeting when he sees people.”

Koda is a six-year-old male Standard Poodle whose namesake is from Disney’s Brother Bear. Because of this, he bears the nicknames “Koda Bear” or just simply “Bear.”

Koda knows his basic commands like sit, down, and stay, but he’s currently working on spin, as well as pushing gates and doors open. He loves to cuddle with his stuffed llama and his stuffed pickle, but his all-time favorite is his tennis ball.

Amber’s favorite memory is taking Koda out for water adventures, including a few trips out on the lake to ride on the paddle board. An outdoor spirit, Koda loves going on daily walks around the neighborhood with his poodle brothers, where he can visit the parks, trails, and lakes. He always enjoys saying hi to the neighborhood dogs, particularly a pair of blue heelers and a pair of Great Pyrenees, as well as fellow neighborhood walkers.

Out on the town, Koda loves going on car rides. His regular stops include Sweetwater Coffee and Tea for a morning pup cup, or Bruster’s Ice Cream for an afternoon Doggie Sundae. “He also enjoys going through Quick Quack Car wash watching all the moving pieces, flashing lights and smelly soaps,” Amber shares.

If Koda could go on any adventure, he’d love to go on a hike, preferably somewhere with cooler weather. Once he made it to the great outdoors, he would want to explore, sniff as much as his heart desired, and not have to worry about that Texas summer heat. It’s fitting that Koda arrived to the Adams family as a Christmas gift; no matter the season, Koda brings those cozy, warm feelings all year round.
