Greensboro Day School

Located on a beautiful 65-acre campus in Greensboro, NC, Greensboro Day School (GDS) is a private, coeducational school with students from ages 2 to grade 12. Susan Davis, director of marketing and community outreach for GDS, says, “Since our founding in 1970, we have earned a reputation for academic excellence by offering the best, most well-rounded educational experience in the Triad region of North Carolina. Our mission is to develop the intellectual, ethical, and interpersonal foundations students need to become constructive contributors to the world.”

GDS opened its doors in 1970 with 95 students in a temporary location at Temple Emanuel as the first independent school in Greensboro. Since then, GDS has significantly expanded in enrollment and programs offered. Today, the school is proud to have nearly 880 students from 55 different zip codes. This fall, GDS welcomed 184 new students, the largest number of new students in the school’s history.

Greensboro Day School inspires young people to think critically, find their voice and be the best version of themselves. The school delivers a dynamic academic program that keeps students interested, active and engaged, matching academic challenges with support from an expert and caring faculty who ensure that every student is known as an individual. They offer a wide variety of extracurriculars, athletics and arts opportunities so that students can pursue their passions and discover new ones, learn to work together and build lasting friendships.

According to the school’s website, the GDS program includes innovative offerings such as the upper school CLEAR (College and Life Enrichment And Readiness) Lab curriculum, an award-winning middle school robotics team and an extensive selection of special interest courses offered through their partnership with Global Online Academy.

Susan shares, “Our exceptional faculty are the lifeblood of the school, dedicated to meeting each student where they are. We deliver an educational program that keeps students interested, active and engaged. We ensure every child is known as an individual. Each year, our community grows with new students and parents who bring their own unique and diverse energy to our expanding campus.”
