MAYA WORSLEY

This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on a fabulous Lake Caroline student, Maya Worsley, of Seville Way! Maya is the daughter of Mani and Tray Hairston and Grant Worsley, and she has three siblings - Grant, Zoe, Ethan, and Cece.
In May, Maya graduated from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School where she shined in everything she did! She was President of the Black Student Union, Secretary of the Asian Student Union, and served as Prefect of Activities and Student Life Committee. In addition, she competed on the Varsity Girls Basketball and Track and Field teams. Maya was also named Miss St. Andrew’s 2025!
Maya’s athletic achievements include being part of the MHSAA 2A Girls Track and Field State Championship team and receiving the 5th Man Award for Varsity Track and Field. She throws both discus and shotput.
When she’s not at school, you might spot Maya working at Whimsy Cookie Co. in the Renaissance, playing pickleball, or at the gym in the early morning hours. She also loves eating out with her friends and trying new restaurants with her family. Her top picks? Tacos at Cazadores and sushi from Nagoya.
Maya was a Mississippi Scholastic Press Association state winner for Best Entertainment Podcast and has been recognized with Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards. She was also involved with Teen Health Mississippi’s MYCouncil and First Baptist Jackson’s Youth Group—finding time to give back to her community, too.
Her stepdad described her saying, “Maya is charismatic, energetic, kind, smart, and confident. She is the personality of our family, and we're so lucky to have her as our youngest.”
This fall, Maya will continue her journey at Louisiana State University. Stroll Lake Caroline looks forward to following along and watching her story unfold!
